Billy Sharp

Badger74

Manager
Billy Sharp at moment is in Ibiza playing in a four team tournement and return back to England on Sunday.
Is this the reason Tilson is not rushing around at the moment and is waiting for Monday Morning to get that signature.

This really could happen

if you offer 500k trundles yours i reckon..... well as long as you can match his 7K wage packet!

Unlike most of the people on here who were spellbound by Trundle's Roots Hall performance last season, I for one don't want him.

Would disrupt the spirit of the team and is in no way worth £7k a week.

Now, if you want to offload Robinson or Britton then now you're talking

Would he? Blimey, talk about a lack of confidence in the gaffer's ability to rule the dressing room...

oops.gif

The wages might be a stumbling block, granted... but just imagine a front three (with Trundle "in the hole") of Trundle, Freddy and Ricketts... then the division really would sit up and take notice of us!

cool.gif

And we were spellbound by Trundle's performances last season because they were, erm, spell-binding. Until he got injured and until Jackett started buying too many forwards, let's not forget that the Swans were threatening to run away with the division...

He's a very special player, and no mistake; but as I've said elsewhere, whomever Tilly decides to get, I'll be happy with that.

Can't believe you have stolen my Tilson picture!!!!

Dont forget also Trundle has image rights at Swansea so that mite tie him down there too

I'd love to see Trundle here but it'll never happen, Swansea wouldn't let him go and his wages are likely to be high.

Sharp presents a similar problem - Scunny wouldn't let him go unless we chucked 4 or 5 hundred thousand at them - money which we don't actually have...

Why?
I for one believe along with the sublime coaching & man-management/motivation ability of Tilly & Brush, one of the major reasons for our success over the past 2.5 years is purely down to the dressing room spirit.

For somebody to come in a disrupt that is a real gamble IMHO. Trundle, potential great player that he might be [and as a lot of people know on here, it's taken a lot for me to change my opinion of him], might just come in with a "I'm in the Championship now & therefore am better than you lot" attitude and cause dressing room rifts. He's obviously also got tickets on himself after his image-rights deal, probably not helped by Soccer AM setting up camp in his rear-end. Love him to prove me wrong and be one of Roots Hall's best loved players, totally agree MtS, a front 3 of Eastwood, Trundle & Ricketts would be potent and make the Championship sit up & take notice of us.

Also, if our average wage is as low as people think it is & OK they will have got one or maybe two years promotion increase on that basic wage, presumably, don't you think an outsider coming in on maybe double what you are on a week will result in some sort of disharmony?

Still can't see it happening though (or Billy Sharp either come to that) but hey, lets look on the bright side, when really have Tilly,Brush & Uncle Ron let us down badly in the transfer market (even Badbuy's critics are now mostly eating their words)?

Don't often disagree with you MtS but on this I do. Trundle is no way near as good as the hype about him. The reason he was able to do what he did at Roots Hall last year is more down to the ineffective defending against him. Back off a player every time and he will have every opportunity to turn it on. If we'd had a defender that day not scared of making a tackle, and I mean regularly not just Hunt's tackle with 2 minutes to go, we'd have seen a much less 'spell-binding' performance from Trundle.

I honestly do not believe Trundle is worth the money Swansea pay for him. And I certainly would not want Southend to pay that level of wages to him!

Very good points raised there.

Do you also not think part of the reason we didn't defend well against him that day was partly down to our defence believing Trundle's hype?

Other than his 1st minute goal in the League Trophy final, even Carlisle proved if you kick him a couple of times early doors then you have a chance of quietening him down in a game.

To be honest mike, trundle...very good player.

And i for one dont seem to remember the backing off tactic, i thought trundle was skinning our defence as they tried to take the ball of him and failed many times.

However, i would be exited by Trundle coming to Roots Hall, but i wouldnt want it.

Keigan Parker, Grant Holt, or Michael Bridges FTW
