Betting - 2025/2026 Season

Something for us to debate on, apart from transfers in, at this time of year.
What can you add?

Not sure why we’d be bigger favourites than Forest Green. I still think their squad has more depth than ours. We were 10 minutes away from the Football League but that doesn’t paper over the huge points gap between us and York/Forest Green. We’d need to make some big signings to warrant that prediction for me.

I'm not a betting man but our odds on there (5/1) are longer than Forest Greens (5/2) so that makes them more favourite than us

York should, and are, streets ahead in the odds for the title. You'd have to be seriously biased or deluded to think otherwise. Their great squad achieved an unbelievable amount of points last year, and they are adding even more quality to it.

We aren’t. The article says we are 5/1 and they are 5/2.

Having said that, I don’t think the gap between us and Forest Green is as big as you’d think. They didn’t have a great second half of last season, and whilst they have assembled an expensive squad, I don’t think it’s an overly impressive one. I certainly don’t think they looked any better than us in the 3 games we played last season, and they definitely didn’t look anywhere near the level of Barnet and York.

If they spend ridiculous amounts again this summer, and spend it well, then that could change. But as it stands, I think we are more than capable of competing with them.

They aren’t. Carlisle are ahead in the odds for the title. I don’t agree with it, but York aren’t the favourites based on the odds.

No that's for Carlisle to be promoted. York are favourites for the league title.

Will be interesting to see what Forest Green do this off-season. I seem to recall their EFL funding halves this year. Whilst their owner has chucked big money at them it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll just make up that shortfall in their budget but equally it could mean they have one big push to get them over the top.

The problem betting in the lower leagues is players could leave half way through the season. If Pearce continues to bang them in teams from leagues one and two will be looking to snap him up. We know all to well how losing Cards affected us.

Their 'parent' company stuffs money Into the club as it has for several years with DV in control, cannot see that changing. Take a look at their accounts.

My mistake, you’re right about the odds. I didn’t notice that as we were ahead of them in the order.

I actually think FGR's were better than us but we outcoached them in the second half.

In the home game, they were much better than us in the first half. Kev changed it in the second half and we got a deserved point. In the playoff, they looked stronger. Their manager bottled it though, and the changes changed the game.

As much as I love our team, you'd much rather have their overall squad to compete with. I'd just rather it was managed by Kev and sprinkled with a few of our players.

If I was to pick a combined 11, I'd probably go for:

Collin

Taylor, Innis, Taylor Moore

Gus, KAF, Alfie May, McCann, McAllister

Cardwell, Doidge
