Just dropped in to say good luck for the new season, lets hope both our clubs do enough to stay up and keep the Essex derby alive and well.
I think you boys could well start with a win on Saturday, and in our case tough as it looks, I still think we may scrape a draw or even a break away win

Having said that if we concede an early goal it could be a heavy defeat.
It looks like the long predicted move of Greg Halford to West Ham may happen next week. To be honest I have never been a great fan of Greg believing he could do a lot more than he has shown us so far.
Its a shame about Sodje missing the start of the season, I always liked the guy when he played for us. I bet he will still play his part in the dressing room getting the lads in a winning mood, he was always a great character to have around.

Look forward to all the banter this season.

Cheers.

Chris.

and here's hoping your new Mega-Stadium (which I believe is on the site of the old lunatic asylum at Severalls) gets under way soon , so that more Shrimpers can see us rip 3 points from you .

Now then chaps...

Nice one Chris - thanks for the good wishes

Good luck yourselves, I've been enjoying the Essex rivalry - and I think it has benefitted both clubs in many ways, motivationally and financially.

Here's hoping we both stay up. And that we whoop your asses into the middle of next week both times we play you this season... I'm seeing double figures

All the best

no change there then

Good luck to Col******r, it certainly looks like you are going to need it unless this Geraint chap turns out to be a fully trained Magician. It's good for the club having the Essex derby, not to mention pulling fans in.

Still, I've backed you to go down I'm afraid so I don't hold much hope...

Thanks for the good wishes, Chris. Maybe this is a bit like the "Christmas Truce" before we all climb back into the trenches tomorrow. I hope you stay up (and Barnsley don't)!

A mixed bag of replies as usual, I expect nothing different from this board, enemy territory and all that

We know that we are in for a tough season, but fourth from bottom will do, we might even beat you boys this time

Good luck to you, and I hope you stay up. Agree with your comments about Halford, I've seen him 3 or 4 times and not been impressed. Danns was vastly better IMO.

I am quietly confident we will be ok, but it is going to be hard work, and of course hope for our requisite 6 points from you guys.

Thanks C&P,

May I be the first to wish you sucess in what I hope will be a very sucessful relegation campaign.

I think you're going to need all the luck going this season C & P.  It's difficult to imagine how sh!t I'd feel if all the shenanigans that have happened at Layer Road is Falling Down had taken place at the Hall & to cap it all in your 1st season at this level.

I'm sure like us you've sold a record number of season tickets (3?) and will have near sell outs each week (6 or 7? that's people not thousands
smile.gif
) but all that joy from the end of last season must have been sorely tainted by PIG's close season departure, the fact that they let it drag on so long & the loss of a couple of your best players, although I don't count Halford as one of those were he to go.

Your new manager is on a hiding to nothing IMO.  He's been dumped in only a few days before the 1st game and although he knows the squad he's got to be a good trader to find decent players at such short notice.  Whereas we seem to have built on last year with some decent acquistions, despite losing out on a couple of our preferred names. I think you'll struggle more than us, but as someone once said "It's A Funny Old Game".

Best of luck for the season C&P.

It must be tough losing your inspirational manager, best midfielder and now possibly best prospect without bringing anyone of note in.

Still, at least we're on the up!

Cheers guys, I think you will find a couple of new players will be arriving next week in the wake of Halford leaving, at least one of those from a Prem club.
I must admit given all the goings on at Layer Road, it feels like a relegation season at the minute, but people like me who have seen managers come and go, just get on with it.

Thanks for that Wardy, I watched our boys lose very unluckily to Brum this morning on the Championship, I wanted to see your teams coverage as well, but I must have sneezed and missed it

Bless you!

We know all about getting coverage and losing - we call it the LDV and you remember that too right? I think we all know though that a win is better than a camera!

Just like a League 1 Title is better than a runners up spot...

Seriously though, Birmingham won with how many men?
