Best soundtrack.. to a film

I love the Kids Soundtrack, features some great hip hop, Folk Implosion, Slint, Sebadoh...

Trainspotting is much vaunted, but was bloody good. Temptation, Born Slippy, Sing, Nightclubbing...

Can I also mention "The Little Mermaid"?

all excellent suggestions

the breakfast club
the godfather 1&2
the matrix was cheesy but good!

Oooo Lots..

Saturday night fever. Great when the Disco sound started.
2010, A Space Oddity. Holst "The Planet Suite" .brilliant.
Somewhere in Time. Very romantic and sad.

And that film about the Irish rock band ...ermmmm, that has a lot of old Stax soul music in it ...

Get Carter

Thats a cracker too. Roy Budd was a minor genius at the time...

In terms of theme tunes, "2001" and "Jaws" were disgustingly iconic. I grew up listening to the "Star Wars" LP my mum had and that was great fun.

I was impressed at the score for "Batman Begins" too - very postmodern for Hollywood.

"O Brother where art thou?" is probably my most favourite OST ever, followed closely by "Get Carter", "Kids", "The Big Lebowski" (Gypsy Kings!), "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "Confessions of a dangerous mind"

Do you mean "The Commitments"?

For me:

Quadrophenia
McVicar
The Doors
Easy Rider
Saturday Night Fever
Human Traffic
Highlander (for Queen fans)

Love the soundtracks to 'Kevin & Perry go Large', and 'The Business'

The Business is a great shout - 80's pop/electro...love the comedy 80's clothes in there too. I remember kids at school a bit older than me going out at weekends dressed as Stefan Edberg with luminous socks etc - what was that all about??

Thats the one "The Commitments" Thanks Chaps:)

Also "The Blues Brothers" and "Tommy"
