Best Song Today

i thought towards the end when we went cheerio, they replied, "going down, going down" and the come back of "premiership and you f%cked it up"

I have to say that I didn't hear much singing from the home side whilst listening to the online commentary, especially in the second-half. Mostly West Brom ...

Surely it had to be:

WBA fans: "Going down, going down, going down"

SUFC fans: "So are we, so are we, so are we"

Brilliant!

There wasnt a bad atmosphere once we scored, what was incredible was when they got one back.

Instantly people were slagging off players again and all the negativity poured back in, even though we were still 3-1 up.

I know we are lacking in belief but if people cant relax when 3-1 up then that wont fill the players with confidence!

Yes, but we killed them off at the end with a lovely 'Premiership and you f***** it up'. They was really ****ed off as they walked out the ground.Sad little West Brom muppets!

I'm sure they "was really ****ed off" because their team had capitulated so badly to a side rooted quite solidly at the bottom of the table. I listened to the West Brom commentary for much of the first-half and the commentators were incredibly resigned to a pathetic performance from the Baggies; plenty of "good grief's" and "I don't believe it". Having a small group of lads with misplaced bravado chanting at them probably didn't upset them as much as the poor performance of their team ...

It certainly wasn't a small group of lads it was the East side and the West side combined. And it was not misplaced bravado, they got what they asked for by trying to give it the big un. Your also incorrect about their team, they wasn't a bad outfit but we didn't give them a chance to settle.

On the contrary, the commentators working on behalf of WBA eluded that the performance was their worst of the season and, since they watch the Baggies week-in week-out as a job, then I think they may be in a far better position to comment as such. I'm not taking anything away from the Shrimpers; it was a great performance. But West Brom were not working on a full tank and were punished for it, particularly in the first-half.

"Giving it the big un" is such a confusing state of mind. I seem to remember Southend fans doing much the same around the smaller clubs of the lower echelons of the Football League just a few short years ago; how memories have been clouded!! In any case, a club that regularly pulls in crowd in excess of 20,000 can afford to laud it a little!

How would you know stuck in your retirement home? 20,000 and they take 900 away. We had more than that at Coventry. They started the abuse and got it back double.Maybe if you was there instead of listening on your radio you would accept something other than a partisan view?

Well, in the West today, it was mighty loud, and I know the acoustics are poor at Roots Hall, but we were much louder than (what I could hear of) the WBA fans.

BTW Kettle was shocking.

Ah yes! The old "you weren't there" crap. (FYI I'm not retired.) A primary audio experience is probably a far better judge of noise levels than actually being there. And I can say that the Baggies came across far louder on the radio; sorry. It may not have been the case but that's how it was for those exiles who can't make the game. On the contrary, I'm fighting AGAINST a partisan view; dig out your dictionary!!

WBA brought down 1,200, according to the official attendance stats given over the radio. 1,200 on New Year's Day; that is pretty impressive and I'm not entirely certain that such a figure would have been reciprocated if it was the other way around?

BTW - 21°c and sunshine today on the Costa Blanca. Who's trying to make who jealous!!

People have short memories. The most recent defeat is always the 'worst performance of the season'.

i didnt think it was that quiet today.

and i am not to sure where you got that all you could hear was the west brom lot as they barely sung the whole game!

Yeah thats why i found it funny when the first song i heard them sing was ' 3-0 and you still don't sing'

Read my posts: I got it from the radio! Unless you lot had adopted Baggies chants in a bizarre twist ...

They had a point though. You may consider that you were loud (and you probably were in your close area) but it didn't come across that way outside of your immediate area and certainly not on the commentary ...

My brother's got a place there. It's a boring dump, he hardly uses it. Most people who go there come back, maybe you should and then you could see for yourself what your missing via your internet.

Yeah but i'm very sure they could hear us as they look over when we sing, but you can't hear them.

Kettle was very poor. I said to a mate in front of me after the very first blowing of his whistle that he was going to be overly fussy and by God that's exactly what he was, especially in the second half.

Up the Blues...
