Best on the way home from school ice-cream.

got to be a FAB all the way also a shout of for the noble mini milk, always good when you have little money

p.s should this be made into a poll?

Calippo is the muts nuts, then a FAB. Good post again Dave, had an orange calippo earlier today now I'm having a pink mini-milk. Love it!

Just remembered twisters - they are the bestest. I used to suck all the vanilla ice cream off first to leave the green and red bits mmmmmmm yum

Used to love twisters and feasts! The best one they did at my school ice cream van was called a popeye - a cornet with ice cream and a orange lolly stuck in the top like a flake normally would be. All this for a bargain price of 50p even when a 99 was £1!!

Oh and of course i loved the mini milks - actually bought some the other day in asda - £1.44 for a pack of 14! BARGAIN!

The best lolly in the world was sold to the lucky pupils of Westleigh Junior School who entered the sweetie shop just across the London Road in thr early 1960's.

This Prince amongst Lollies was a red torpedo shape, narrowing slightly towards its tip. It was made by the lady who ran the shop and sold for a penny. It tasted fantastic in a fruity sort of way. The only problem was that the penny was two thirds of my penny ha'pny bus fare to Thames Drive. So the question was always walk and lick, or ride and regret.

I haven't been back to that shop for years, but I strongly suspect that that particular delight is no more :(

So for the modern day, I would be split (geddit?) between a Strawberry Mivvi and a Fab.

BTW, can anyone think of another area where what was sold in the '60's is still going strong today? eg Fab, Callipo, Mivvi, 99, etc?

"A medium cornet please"

"Hundreds and thousands?"

"No, just one please!"

LOL! I am sad for laughing at that but found it quite amusing.

Could image Jimmy Carr saying it and it sounding ****ing brilliant!

"Oyster" ice cream.Better than a cone, cheaper than yer '99 and after ending up with ice cream all down the chin and chops area you get to scoff that coconutty, chewy thingy at the end almost like a prize.
A wondorous heavenly discus-shaped delicacy, ice cream that shot sideways from the oyster cone much as a victoria cream sponge would.
When the ice cream man filled the thin wafer cups with often a 3-4inch filling of the cold stuff, you knew this was gonna be a challenge for the challenged and to eat one would always be safer to be seated, because take your eye off it for one split second and somewhere it would be -a-running.Speed also was the order of the day as the tongue was used to lick the circular perimeter to keep it all within the boundaries.
Licking round the edge was all well and good but you knew sooner than later the time to bite into that wafer would clarify that this was a delight of a dessert. The combination of nougaty, coconutty sticky wafer and soft ice cream for me made this treat reign supreme.
