Eastwood away at swansea . Two great goals and all round display that won us promotion.

JCR at home to west brom. Two great goals and ran west brom ragged.

Sodje against man utd. Absolutely brutalised rooney for 90 minutes

Flavs v utd . Denied rooney and ronaldo time and again.

There has been loads of great team performances that i have been so proud to have been at and to have been attached to as a fan.

My memory isn't too good but I have a feeling that there was a pretty outstanding performance from someone in THAT game against Liverpool in '79.....there had to have been surely to contain the European Champions? I can't even find the team line up to jog my memory!

Mike Marsh's all action display in a 5-2 win over table topping and nailed on favourite's for promotion Bolton Wanderer's always sticks in my mind. As the final minutes were being played out my mate and I were saying how unjust it was for a player to play that well in a six goal thriller and not get a goal, when Bolton conceded a penalty and up stepped Marsh to cap off a perfect masterclass in box to box midfield play.

A close second in the season before was Ricky Otto's demolition of Oxford in a 6-1 win. Mooney got the hat-trick that day, but Otto got two of his own and at least two assists, I can't remember if he took the corner for Eagles header. He terrorised the Oxford defensive that day, I wouldn't be surprised if the Oxford full back retired that evening.

More recently, Freddy at both Swansea and Bristol City, and Mark Gower away to Birmingham in the 3-1 win. Che Wilson away to Colchester in the 3-0 victory (to make up for the numerous mentions in the worst ever displays thread).

Team was as follows.

Southend United: Cawston, Stead, Yates, Laverick, Hadley, Moody, Morris, Poutney, Parker, Dudley, Fell.

Seem to recall Parker msssing some chance's and Moody playing well and loads of snow !

Sodje v. Spurs at WHL in the league cup; he was immense that day. One of the finest defensive displays I've ever had the privilege to witness.

Jay Smith v. Canvey at Park Lane - nuff said.

Ray Clemence's legs played a major part. I believe it was Derrick Parker who had the opportunity to lob him but no doubt I'll be corrected.

Kevin Maher. 400 plus individual fantastic performances.

Adam Barrett. Best acting performance for saying I want to go as I can play at a much higher level.

Stan at Huddersfield in the FA Cup, simply stunning performance.

Living up north, I had not managed to get to any home games since Stan arrived, so the Huddersfield cup game was the first time I had seen him. I have to agree that his performance that day on a heavy pitch at the old Leeds Road ground was absolutely outstanding.

I can also remember Billy Best's hat trick in the 5-1 home win over Chester in 1968 capping a brilliant individual all-round performance.

I'd say midget man's Darryl Flahavan's performance against Man Utd is worthy of recognition.

Why? Had any of those shots from Ronaldo gone in then Darryl would have been extremely disappointed. They were all right at him.

Sodje & Prior were the heroes that night. Flavs had many better games in a Southend shirt, including the next round at Spurs where he put on a masterclass.

Colin Morris against Liverpool in the cup, quite a few years back. He turned E Hughes inside out on a snow bound pitch, they ended up double marking him to try and keep him quite, that didnt work either, brilliant performance.

That'll be the one!!!

My most impressive display was Keith Jones at Everton

Not many prouder days than that when losing!

and of course Graeme Bressington in his testmonial.. I think it finished 8-3

I was a Northern exile in those days, so rarely got to Roots Hall.

Agree with the Everton away & Liverpool 79' comments.

also, don't think anyone's mentioned Stan's debut? 2 goals, (against Notts County I think?) and the sudden realisation we had a bit of class on our hands..

Barrington Belgrave was never better than against Rushden and Diamonds on Boxing Day 2001.

I remember that one freezing cold and a sun so low you couldnt see half the pitch. We were utter utter gash in the first half and were 2-0 down, then we cameout for second half, Leon Cort scored from a corner, then Belgrave and Bramble completely destroyed them. Belgrave stood out in particular for being, err well a bit crap really otherwise
