BBC talent salaries.

none of the above is public money which you have no choice in paying.

Correct, but it is the market the BBC are in. If they don't pay the going rate they don't get the talent. The issue here isn't really about how much the BBC pays, it's more about whether entertainers in general should earn that much. Compare all of them above to how much Ant and Dec earn with ITV. The two of them earned in 12 months more than all the 96 BBC presenters on the list put together.

In that context the BBC is actually good value for money. The issue is (as said before) whether you think entertainers should earn that much.

exactly, people will be up in arms at level of pay but also up in arms when BBC were outbid on Bake Off and MOTD.
Entertainers are like footballers - high salaries for jobs we would all do for minimum wage, but as soon as another broadcaster / club are willing to pay more then the money keeps rising

Lauren Laverne earns 350k yet Mark Radcliffe is only on 250k.

Lauren Laverne is excruciating.
on 6 Music Laverne presents her show alone and Radcliffe is part of a double act, so if Maconie is on the same money the cost of 'talent' for Laverne's show is £350k and Rad&Mac is £500k.

Ignoring the fact they work on other things for the BBC too.

Simon Cox...?

Plays for Southend...?

...division below Fulham...?

Nah.I was asking about Mark Radcliffe.I've seen Simon Cox play for us,thanks.

Btw,I expect SUFC to be in the same division as Fulham by the end of next season.

How much is Andrew Neil on? Edit.Just checked.A cool 200,000 apparently.Same as this Mark Radcliffe guy.

Worth every penny for BBC6 alone. I made sure that when I got a new car, that it had a DAB so I didn't have to listen to any other channel on long drives. The horrors of local radio! :stunned:

Weekday afternoons between 1-4. Alternative music from every genre or every age (he'd not doubt at least play something you'd like). If you listen to Radio 1/2 you get a lot of *****, if you listen to local radio you get nothing but *****. BBC6 is a sparkling gem in an ocean full of *****.

Radio 2 in the evenings is quite good - jazz on Tuesdays, folk on Wednesdays with Stuart Maconie, country on Thurdays with Bob Harris.

Used to listen to "whispering Bob" when he was on Monday nights before Paul Jones.Would probably like the folk show too.Who does the jazz show?

You have a choice of whether to need a TV licence, but the point was that we won't know for sure that the BBC staff are underpaid unless we see the salaries those I listed get.
