Battrick - OD Match 11

Hadn't realised oppo's bowling was shot to pieces PFL wise, so maybe we will chase it down after all.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Baseball on Valium

Baseball on Valium won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 9: 88-0, runrate=9.78, reqrunrate=4.05 (253-10)
Blundell 5-0-45-0
Ricketts* 56 (34 balls)
Middleton 32 (20 balls)

knew i shouldn't get hopeful.. Awan (despite being a spinner on a dusty track) is giving them too many easy balls. need wickets to stop this getting away from us, particularly Grogan who's a 20something K BTR player...

End of Over 17: 94-3, runrate=5.53, reqrunrate=5.42 (272-3)
Awan 4-0-33-0
Grogan* 39 (38 balls)
Jakobus 24 (27 balls)
Last Wicket: Farrell Run Out 7 (FOW: 37/3)

Should still win, but with my middle order today it could be dodgy

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Baseball on Valium

Baseball on Valium won the toss and elected to bat.
Pitch: Dusty

End of Over 28: 193-2, runrate=6.89, reqrunrate=2.77 (253-10)
Juries 4-0-17-1
Middleton* 66 (70 balls)
Blake 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Curle c. Oconnor b. Juries 5 (FOW: 193/2)

If I can lose one of my two batsmen I have a chance of making my 8 an over target with either of the next two batsmen - currently 184-1 but too slow !!!

not getting slaughtered, but Awan's loose cannon bowling means they should win this barring a late collapse.

End of Over 37: 207-4, runrate=5.59, reqrunrate=5.08 (272-3)
Awan 9-0-61-0
Menzies* 9 (10 balls)
Grogan 85 (90 balls)
Last Wicket: Jakobus b. Harmison 81 (FOW: 189/4)

Made 353-2 and bowled them out for 25. Lever took 7-11.

Middle Order: proficient mediocre
Lower Order: abysmal worthless
Seam Bowling: superb woeful
Spin Bowling: sensational mediocre

Need one more seamer next season for a strong enough attack. Will probably sell Brennan, my weakest bowler, and buy another one. £3mil in the bank so far, Brennan will probably pick up £2.5mil, so what could I get for that?

23. Craig Brennan - 27 yo, BT Rating=25,904
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, respectable batting form, strong bowling form, sublime
A defensive player with worthless leadership skills and woeful experience.
Stamina: competent Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: abysmal Concentration: feeble

Lovely - 15 off the last over now his fast ones are back on - unfortunately at the other end 2 more to come from

Lister 8-0-17-0 :(

though 6 of the first three balls is a decent start :D

9 off the 42 over - we're in with a great shout now

End of Over 42: 213-1, runrate=5.07, reqrunrate=8.50 (280-10)

Still on track - but watch me muck it up from here

A win would avoid auto relegation !!!

End of Over 48: 268-2, runrate=5.58, reqrunrate=6.50 (280-10)

I still bet I screw up !!!

Jeez - they made me sweat for it !

49.4 1 Pye to Mckie
Mckie just dropped that one down onto his toes, and they scamper through for a quick single. Pye doesn't look pleased at all.
49.3 1 Pye to Thomson
On the back foot, played out to the on.
49.2 1 Pye to Mckie
The sweeper on the leg side waits for the ball as it rolls towards him, and an easy single is taken.
49.1 1 Pye to Thomson
On the front foot, managed to work it around to the deep mid wicket region.

And that's the end of the match. ShrimperZone Vets CC won by 8 wickets.
Hi 280-10
ShrimperZone Vets CC 281-2

That'll do nicely though - what a great second half of the OD season this is turning out to be - they were in third place but with only 14 in their squad I fancied my chances. Now 8 pts clear of 7th with one definite win, one definite loss and one anyones game to come

lost by 5 wickets... bowling not good enough in the last 10 unfortunately. Seam attack is the main priority for next season.

Just shows you how important management of PFL is - that's yet another underdog game won for me - though his feeble fast bowlers helped me considerably

ShrimperZone Vets CC Hi
Top Order: mediocre feeble
Middle Order: feeble competent
Lower Order: worthless worthless
Seam Bowling: feeble abysmal
Spin Bowling: feeble competent

great comeback ORM.. i only need one more win in OD to be safe from auto relegation in all probability, will hopefully come next week. annoyed today, if i'd put Cairnsy in i might well have got the win, wasn't expecting it to be so close.
