I won I won I won!!!

First victory comes against the best team in the league whilst I was on TIE!!!

And that's the end of the match.
Old Chelmsfordians won by 51 runs.
Old Chelmsfordians 298-6
Will 247-10

Their best player was stranded: Harley* 147 (126 balls)

used the tactic someone was talking about on here. Set my opening seam bowlers to Attacking and used my 3 spinners defensively. On my dusty pitch worked a treat!

Nice win Haig. We won too, first of the season. Should have been more convincing but their 82 run 9th wicket partnership rather ruined Mushtaq's figures. Everyone else did fine though and Sutherland is finally proving his worth, both openers taken out for low scores in his 5-37.

Roll on the cup game!

****s! Lost by 15 or so runs.

Great bowling lads

I won by 13 runs!

First time I haven't bowled a team out for yonks, but they scored their runs too slowly. They've got to be gutted to lose a game when they only lost three wickets.

BTW Daniels bowled 10-0-68-0.

In the two previous league games he took 9 wickets for 44 runs!

Griffiths also popped to mediocre experience after his M-o-M display.

That was my tactic, and guess what, it worked for me too :D Lost the toss and batted first on a H&F pitch and made a surprisingly high 292-7. My captain then took 2 wickets early on and they wen 30-2. The other 3 bowlers managed to stem the runs enough and the pressure brought about the loss of wickets. Of course, their England international Cahill stayed 113 not out at the end but dismissing the others meant we beat the league leaders comfortably, bowling them out for 238.

Was also on TIE :) My best tactical win to date - one I'll think about using in future against opening batsman dominated sides.

Top on NRR now too. 5 teams on 8 points.

Erm Excuuuuuuuuuse me.....

I'm #5 in IV.35. Bearing mind I started a year after you I think that's decent going!

We'll see come the SZ cup ....... :guns:

My bad, sir!

Looks an interesting tactic that. Might use it myself in some of my league games this season and see what affect that has, as alot of teams in my league have some excellent openers. I've decided (at the moment) to GFI and to bowl first on my pitch which favours the spinners with Titterton coming in first change and then Akram in at 5 to slow things up which leaves my medium paced Hitchman to bowl at 4.

Like Muse, my league is going to be unbelievably tight as so many of the teams are very similarly matched. 5 teams on 8 points and im on 4 points and most tipped me to win it after coming 2nd last season but some of them did have 5/6 million sitting in the bank to spend! My league will be a case of lots of teams beating each other and whoever can win most consistantly (and the ratings aren't seeming to matter as much at the moment - a good thing IMO) will win the league!

I'll be testing the openers attacking straight through and the rest defensive again in the cup on Sunday. Up against a strong bowling line-up though so will still probably lose. Aim is to bowl first to give it a trial though.

I bowled first in my game. But I didn't bowl my openers straight through, used 5 & 5 all the way through.

I'll defintiely use it when I'm TIE against better teams. Especially those with on estar batsman. It's a case of accepting he will score runs and attacking the other end.

Whilst my fixture list was a nightmare to start with, now I've accepted I won't get promoted it could prove to be quite beneficial. We've now come through games against the 3 strongest teams so the next 4 weeks should be TIE wins. We've already hit sublime TFL so we should be able to normal cup games and maintain it. With the attack we have I must have a chance of a decent cup run if I can get a bit of luck here and there and my batsmen sort their lives out!
