Don't mean to bad mouth your friend but I don't believe him. If it was any other club I could see it happening but its Colchester and Adam is Southend through and through. Won't happen in my life time.

He's spent over 60% of his career at other clubs and if the offer is right the fact it's Colchester won't make any difference. Having said that he'd be a big loss at present.

I would be surprised if we were in for Adam now, our Hungarian central defender Bela Balogh is now fit, we have just signed Adam Virgo from Celtic on a 6 month loan deal who can also play in central defence. Given we have young Connolly on a season long loan from Arsenal, who looks like a very good young player, Pat Baldwin, and the man mountain that is George Elokobi, I cant see us wanting Adam any longer.

We are now in the market for a striker, with ex Arsenal young player Dean Shiels rumoured to be in the frame from Hibs.

Perhaps a collective SZ suicide pact is the answer? I dont want to put too much pressure on Barrett as he has been a great servant but perhaps the lives of 200 odd supporters would help him put things in perspective.

It's just an idea- just my opinion.

Although i admire Barrtetts determination and commitment and his passion , but lets get real here , he is a below average CCC player , a good league one player and a superb league 2 player, to say he bleeds blue blood is going over the top somewhat, as someone pointed out he has a young family and doesn't earn great money that he can retire on .

If he is offered a pay rise , the chance to play CCC football in front of 20 k fans ( at away games) and a nice signing on fee, then does everyone really believe that he will turn that down without any thought as that is what my mate is being told.
