Yes. I've done it once, for the Scarborough game.[b said:Quote[/b] (SARF @ Jan. 15 2007,15:44)]Good to see Sarfend catering for the wealthy in the borough.. In all seriousness there is a market for the flight to away games..
Sod talking to the players!! I would just want to get to a VERY local airport, get in and out ASAP with a max amount of beer and a nice 40 minute kip on the way home .. Arrive a couple of miles from your door.. Only works if its from Southend Airport though[b said:Quote[/b] (londonblue @ Jan. 15 2007,16:11)]Yes. As an aside, other than saving a whole load of time, it's not all that great. You don't really get to interact with the players. They all boarded the plane first and sat at the front. They had their own coach to take them to the hotel where we ate. They had their meal in a private area away from the rest of us, and also went to the game by themselves. And on the way back no-one was in the mood to talk!
Mind you, that was a 737 with 130 people on board, it may be different on a smaller plane.
Thats all well and good if you live in Southend, but what about those Shrimpers living/working in the City. Surely the Shrimpers Trust should dispense with the idea of running coaches from London and instead concentrate on running airplanes from London City...[b said:Quote[/b] (SARF @ Jan. 15 2007,16:17)]Sod talking to the players!! Apparently the afore-mentioned Mr Ricketts is two stone lighter now?[b said:Quote[/b] (Technician @ Jan. 15 2007,15:31)]I think everyone going by air should be thankful Ricketts is now at Preston. If he was still at Southend... the aircraft would be going by road!!!
But would he have been if he stayed here?[b said:Quote[/b] (Colchester Shrimper @ Jan. 15 2007,21:14)]Apparently the afore-mentioned Mr Ricketts is two stone lighter now?[b said:Quote[/b] (Technician @ Jan. 15 2007,15:31)]I think everyone going by air should be thankful Ricketts is now at Preston. Pernickety:[b said:Quote[/b] (shrimp and two veg @ Jan. 15 2007,12:56)]I think you mean Cue,not Que ![b said:Quote[/b] (D62SUBOY @ Jan. 15 2007,12:21)]Thank God someone else made the point about the correct use of grammar and how the lack thereof can distort a sentence.[b said:Quote[/b] (sufcintheprem @ Jan. 15 2007,12:08)]It's not an easy question to phrase.[b said:Quote[/b] (D62SUBOY @ Jan. 15 2007,11:47)]Actually, reading that again I'm struggling to see exactly what question your asking.[b said:Quote[/b] (jays_237 @ Jan. 15 2007,11:33)]might sound a bit stupid, but what happens if its gail force winds does the plane leave early enough to allow the players to get up there by coach if this happened??
I think it's "In the event of the plane not being able to take-off, would the players still have time to get a coach to Barnsley in time for kick-off?"
To all the grammar-knocker knockers suggesting it's not so important, I think the sentence becomes much clearer when it becomes two sentences:
"what happens if its gail force winds? Does the plane leave early enough to allow the players to get up there by coach if this happened??"
I was going to make reference to it in my last post but didn't want to get shot down in flames for being pernickety (yes I know it's not a word)
Que someone picking this post apart
As I said before, I would imagine the club have taken all eventualities into account.
