Barnsley Plane

McScriven

The Ball Boy
The company running the plane to Barnsley have given us a 68 seater instead of a 50 seater for tomorrow now.

We have another 16 seats still available for £260 which included the flight, transfers, three course meal and a ticket for the game with the Southend fans.

If you are interested call Brian Wheeler on 01702 304133.

..... is that a serious question

might sound a bit stupid, but what happens if its gail force winds does the plane leave early enough to allow the players to get up there by coach if this happened??

Actually, reading that again I'm struggling to see exactly what question your asking.

The youth team have all been registered with this very contingency in mind. A coach drives them all the way up to Yorkshire until he gets the all clear that the plane has safely landed, at which point the coach promptly does a u-turn on the motorway (as long as no police are watching) and heads back to Essex.

It's not an easy question to phrase.

I think it's "In the event of the plane not being able to take-off, would the players still have time to get a coach to Barnsley in time for kick-off?"

To all the grammar-knocker knockers suggesting it's not so important, I think the sentence becomes much clearer when it becomes two sentences:

"what happens if its gail force winds? Does the plane leave early enough to allow the players to get up there by coach if this happened??"

Thank God someone else made the point about the correct use of grammar and how the lack thereof can distort a sentence.
I was going to make reference to it in my last post but didn't want to get shot down in flames for being pernickety (yes I know it's not a word)

As I said before, I would imagine the club have taken all eventualities into account.

All eventualities?

Including tax rises?

The last thing we want is for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to detain the players for non-payment of air tax.

I would also query whether Ron Martin has carefully thought through the consequences of flying. Are we really a better team in the warm weather that flying will cause? The fact that our best form is in January and not September suggests otherwise.

Or maybe he should have said:-

"Is the plane's scheduled departure time early enough that, should there be gail force winds, the team can still make it by coach?"

Mind you i'm still not sure who Gail Force is...I think he mean't gale force.

Is that the Gail Force that appears in those porno flicks.

I think everyone going by air should be thankful Ricketts is now at Preston. If he was still at Southend... the aircraft would be going by road!!!
