The Business
Following on from the huge success of yesterdays Milan question - today Spanish Football

Two main giants out there at the moment, If you had to pick one who do you prefer.

Personally dont like either but if I had to go for anyone would be Madrid as get a bit bored of all the hype around Barca.

Barca for me,

Simply cannot vote for a side that has that cretin of the highest order Pepe playing for them, oh and Sergio Ramos

This ^ Glad I'm not the only one

Barcelona have Messi who scores 132 goals a season.

Ronaldo did ok, but cant score at Roots Hall so obviously a fluke.

So Barcelona for me.

Barca for me, as I show solidarity with Barna and support the Catalans.

Also Lineker played there (although I don't seem to have any soft spot for Leicester or Grampus Eight).

Tough one this as they are both massively hyped and too dominant in their league. I think Barcelona would just pip it for me if I had to choose one. Over the years they seemed to have more identifiable and defining players - albeit consisting of mainly a procession of South American forwards one after the other - Romario, Fat Ronaldo (before he was fat and when he was perhaps the greatest player to play football), Rivaldo (always thought he was a complete **** - not sure if this is because of his theatrics in the 2002 world cup or his skeletor like face), Ronaldinho and now Messi. Plus I'm a big fan of unpredictable brilliance of someone like Hristro Stoichov.....

I know someone who goes to every Newcastle game home and away despite living in London. Barca played Newcastle and were treated so well in the away leg that at the return fixture the Geordies were met at the airport by Barca fans and each adopted by families who told them to cancel their hotels and instead stay at their houses. He said he ate and drank more than ever before during his stay and never spent a cent. That is what football is about ‘we are Barcelona, we are the best on every level’.

Always back Catalan teams after reading Orwell’s ‘homage’.

I was lucky enough to see them both play each other in a la ligua El Classico match in the Bernebau some years back. This was when the likes of Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Figo and Beckham played for Madrid and Ronaldinho and Overmars played for Barca. The atmosphere in the staduim was incredible, unlike anything I've ever experienced before or since and it was definitely one of those '100 things to do before you die' moments so I'm going with Madrid.

I prefer Barcelona as they at least grow their own players. Madrid just have an open cheque book.

This.

Barca because I have a soft sport for Mark Hughes' extravagant volleys.

And This.

Barcá all the way.
