I don't watch Southend week in week out so i can only comment on one game however, we were saying how good the football was that you were playing.

Had Mcormack's? shot gone in and not hit the post it could have been a differant game.

Give Tillson a chance, he is a Leeds fan at that but you have just had to sell your best striker which must be demoralising so bare with it. Get a decent striker in and you will be a better side.

On this display with a good striker you will stay up however i am sure that you are by no means least one of the worst teams in this division.

Good luck i hope you stay up.

Lee

If Harrold is to win flick on surely we would have benefited from McDonald playing up there with him, however having scored a hat trick Tilly couldnt really leave Bradders out.

Why not he left Collis out when he had a blinder during the week.

Is Tilly's weakness that he has a group of players that he believes are capable and is unwilling to see the good qualities of other players over his chosen few.

This is not a Tilly bashing but just for comment.

I think there are certain players who will always get picked, rightly or wrongly. Since he got in the side, has a fit Adam Barrett ever missed a game? Since he got past Grimienk, has Flavs ever missed a game when available? Gower has only ever had the one spell out of the team, around the Play-Offs. And obviously Maher goes without saying.

Of course those four, along with Eastwood, have been the core of the success that we've had so I'm sure that Tilly would argue that he's been loyal to the players who got us where we were.

I think its also fair to say that the likes of Maher, Gower and Barrett have played their best football under Tilson. Tilly's managerial philosophy is very much one of removing the fear and allowing players to express themselves. When criticising Tilly for not making subs earlier or dropping players, you must consider the positive impact this approach has had on certain players. Subbing a player having a bad game can have a detrimental effect to their confidence. By giving them a vote of confidence and keeping them in the team/not subbing them, you might not get more out of them that game, but you may get more of them out of them in the long term. This needs to be weighed up against possible one-off gains.

Some good stuff lads.

I am a Leeds fan and was at the game. True enough, Leeds were not four goals to the better today, the game was close and both sides had decent enough chances throughout.

I think you had the middle spells easily in both halves, with us picking it up towards the end.

Nice comments about the home crowd too. The place was really buzzing, more so an act of defiance against the powers that be who are running the game.

You must remember this team have not had a chance to gel yet. Agreed we didn't look dominant but if we can gel for most of the season like we did in the last few minutes, then we could be in for a good year. We have the sum of the parts, but not as yet are we running as unit.

Last season we would have lost at Tranmere having gone one down, this year we didn't. And when you equalised against us at ER, we would usually collapse. And when we went in front in seasons past, we would have got found out trying to protect our lead. I would think you would appreciate that in that last five minutes, Leeds actually believed they could win the game, and went for it.

I haven't seen that mindset in our players for years on end now. The rot appears to have stopped.

Thanks for the generous comments. I remember early last year we had never played you... and now it seems like every other week!!!! We had you on the Tuesday and Saturday all in the same week.. funny old game!

Good luck with the rest of your season. You are not on the board yet but are still nine points in front of us LOL... imagine that!!!!

Kind regards.

Greg.

I don't think Bradbury's hat- trick was a freak, I think he's finally found someone who compliments his style i.e. MacDonald. You can't start bashing Bradders again when the sucessful partnership of Tuesday hasn't been tested over more than one match!

Let's give Bradders & MacDonald a run up front with Gower & Black (drop JCR). It's the only way to see if they are capable of dominating this league. We need to do it now.

I totally agree that Bradders should be one of our front pair, or even give Paynter a run with a decent partner. Just please, please, please Tilly don;t ever play him alongside Harrold again unless you have some sort of masterplan that I cannot begin to imagine.

From what I've seen so far I too would go with Bradders and MacDonald up front with Gower and Black out wide. I'd have Foran and JCR on the bench. I'd also like to see a different CB partnership with Richards and Clarke, Che on the right and AB on the left. Gilbert could sit on the bench for a while as a reward for Saturday's form. Finally I'd agonise over what to do in the middle of the park; I'd probably drop Bailey and bring Kev back if he's fit )but tell Bailey that he'll be back in the team in a couple of weeks time when Macca gets cards 4 and 5 under his belt.

Got to say I thought we did well on Saturday against the eleven on the pitch and the 12th and possibly 13th man in the stands. Every time we tried to get behind our team there would be a brief delay before most of the 24,000 crowd responded with their support.

Apart from a couple of idiots mouthing off next to us, I think the ER crowd did themselves proud today; don't we wish we could generate that sort of atmosphere at home?

Oooooh, imagine that! Even a 'nice' Leeds fan can't avoid being patronising, condescending and superior. Don't you feel for the poor, victimised angels, having to slum it down here with the likes of us?

I'd like to hear Tilson's rationale behind picking Bradders and Harrold. Not Tilly bashing, but I doubt anyone else in Essex could see the logic in picking those two together.

Come on Tilly, tell all.

For defensive reasons, unfortunately, is the only conceivable reason. Leeds are a big and direct team - he wanted to use them to combat this.

Which if correct, is a sad inditement of tilson's lack of faith in his own side,s ability to score more than concede.
