Shame about the cup runs .......... well, that's another story.

If the budget was set at 5,000 per home game then the club will have 23 x 2,339 more paying customers*.

That makes more than 50,000 additional attendances - at a tenner = £500,000.

At £20 that is about an extra million in income.

That all sounds good to me.



* I know I know - it's not that simple ...... extra costs & other factors to take into account.

Imagine the potential when the east stand gets renovated and capacity increases by about 3 or 4k.

I think the current stadium encourages advanced ticket sales as people are worried about selling out/being stuck with a restricted view.

It doesn’t necessarily follow that that will happen in a larger, better designed stadium when tickets are easier to come by.

Plus, some may find that being part of a 7000 crowd in a 14,000 capacity stadium is less atmospheric/less of an event than being in a crowd of 7000 in a 9000 capacity stadium.

Need to turn some of the casual attenders into regulars and then into season ticket holders.

I believe we finished on around 4,300 Season card holders this season, which means around 3,000 came through the gates most weeks as individual ticket holders or corporate attendees.

Would be good to break 5,000 Season card holders next season, but that will require us to either get promoted, or one hell of a marketing/pricing campaign.

I recall our first ever game in Division 2 at home to Bristol City. I was expecting it to be jam packed and I don't think we even had 7,000 there - including a fair few yokels from the West Country. It's remarkable to me that we are drawing more in non-league.

Good points that are well made but it also allows the club to do more promotions in advance of matches.

Notts County had a big capacity in this divison and broke records for attendances because they had space for promotions.

The population increase locally will hopefully drive attendances as people look for their local football fix. I moved from Romford out to Rochford around 8 years ago and I’ve been hooked on having a proper local club to support ever since. Up to that point I was a mostly armchair fan of the premier league. Now I have very little interest in the divisions above (until we get there!!).

I think the attendances will take another jump when we have good food throughout the ground, clean toilets that we’re not worried for our children to use and some pre-match entertainment / fanzone. They’ll all contribute to making Roots Hall a pleasant place to be for everyone, hardcore fan and family day out alike.
