AFC Wimbledon totalled 27,069 / averagde 3,383 for their first 8 games of 2010/2011 season, largest of those was 4,018 v Crawley.

PS, Even with the big crowd v Morecambe taken out. We would still be up on last season's first 8 v this season's first 7!

And we are only beaten by Barnet as they have had pretty much every team, which would bring a large travelling contingent to Underhill already. Only way is down for them...
Agree we would still be up but not by very much, as the Morecombe crowd was pretty much double our normal attendance. That means we've got the equivalent of an extra game's attendance in our average crowd stats. Dividing 100% by 9 instead of 8 shows our 11% increase is almost entirely down to the Morecombe game.

It is interesting that only 5 teams have been able to improve on their attendance, with the majority obviously losing fans.

Wouldn't want to be the Port Vale owners!....
Massive slide for them. Just shows what a bit of negativity can do to the support in one season.
Something we know about all too well.

The only side PV have played that would've been expected to take a large following there is Shrewsbury .. Swindon Plymouth Crewe Bristol Rovers and Oxford still have to visit

Myself like most have expected the crowds to get bigger and bigger as our results have got better and better but take away the Morecombe game they havn't really grown as expected considering being 1st in the league.

I full expected the attendence this sat to be between 7.5k and 8k considering Oxford will be bring a few but apparently we're only looking at around just above 6k. Find it quite surprising really.

Someone fancy finding the attendances when we got to 1st in league 2 last time around

I would be interested to compare this with the attendances for the first 8 games in League 2 in Tilly's promotion season. I suspect they would be comparable.

I am surprised that people are surprised that attendances have dropped. The reason is simple. League 2 football. Poor quality (not so much from us this year, but certainly from the opposition). No interesting opponents. Many people won't pay £19 for that.

IIRC we were only top for a couple of home games, I think it was Bristol Rovers and Borient both of which were at the sharp end of the 04-05 season.

As we're so much earlier in the season, a comparison between them is a bit unfair!

We went top vs Bristol Rovers at home, won 2-0, att 7,858

Followed by Orient at home, att 9189

Last home game in the league was vs Yeovil, 11,735

Admittedly these games were right at the end of the season.

But at this time in 2004/05 season we were just about to play Oxford at home, win 4-0 and an attendance of 5608.

An omen maybe? :winking:

Don't believe that for one second Stodge. Open your eyes, look around at the world economy and think again.

Quite happy to pay up to £20.It's the travelling costs that restrict me to a handful of home games.
