Atmosphere Vrs Crewe

cricko you smoke?

No, he and I were just there taking notes. When the stewards disappeared with a couple of minutes to go to the start of the second half we needed to make a list of all those disgusting smokers. A report will be going into the club tomorrow.

I'm still working out what piece of legislation covers this ridiculous "ban". Does the new law incorporate a ban smoking in sports stadia i.e. as soon as you walk through the turnstiles or are these ground regulations posted by the club and enforced by stewards (printed around the ground for all to read in dull moments).

If they are the latter then when they start evicting people for contravening all the other ground regulations, e.g. swearing or the taking of photographs/videos inside the ground then I'll stop attempting to have a half time puff in the open air at the north end behind the West Bank where there is zero danger of anyone catching secondary cancer, though they might catch the occassional smell of tobacco smoke if the wind drifts in the wrong direction.

its actually just over 13,000. it is still there biggest crowd at their new stadium by quite a long way, still 13000 aint bad, i wonder if theyve reduced the prices for this one ???

Tickets were a quid each I think.

Being in the South Upper nice to hear the singing louder than last week, I'm sure it helped lift the boys and get our second.

Hat's off the three in the front row of the East who tried there best to sing up but were left high and dry.

The new stadium is definately going to help the atmosphere and stop the noise escaping so easily.

Fingers crossed for Tuesday.

just as an update, their average before today was around 7500, and for this game any season ticket holder could bring 2 more people for a pound each, good way of encouraging support.

Sad to see them getting good crowds and doing well - people have forgotten very quickly that they stole a football club.

going back a sec..
thought we were quite loud in south upper near east stand
brilliant with the one man singing "i am the east stand, i am the east stand..."
then getting "on your own, on your own, on your own"
great atmosphere =D

yeah very true. cannot wait to get the new stadium, the atmosphere will be so good. hopefully as good as away games.

No it won't. It'll be half empty most of the time.

It was a good fun atmosphere yesterday in the 2nd half. It was good to get the 'we're the .. stand' going and even the East got involved, but when the block V crowd got involved it got out of sync. Still needs some work :p

I appear to be alone on this one but I'm glad to see them developing what they have. The people involved in the club now, Winkleman, Fans, Players, Coaches etc. have nothing whatsoever to do with the club that was bought from its previous owners and relocated because there really wasn't any demand for it where it was.

If there are any villains in this story, it's the previous owners (and to some extent the apathetic fans) rather than the current people.

I would be pleased with 11,000 crowds at the new stadium.

Don't forget Roots Hall's original capacity was approx 35,000 & one season (84/5?) the average gate was 1,900 & the highest crowd all season was 2,950!!! so not even 10% full.

A half-empty Fosset's will be no worse than getting 3,500 in RH like we did when we were mired in the dark days of League Two / Division Three.

MK Dons and Donny's new stadia are running at half-full (in the case of MK Donalds it's less!) and their fans seem happy enough.

Indeed.

A 50% fossetts should even be better than a 50% Roots Hall for atmosphere because of acoustics.

The singing from the East stand was reasonable at one point on this chant on Saturday (if not for long), and actually really good the week before. However it obviously doesnt go very far!

As Ive said before the Trust should set up a "blue action" area in the ground where people who want to make a positive effort to get songs going etc could be located. Would work better than having small pockets spread throughout the ground.

Plus for games that are nowhere near capacity, there should be a sit where you want policy (within reason) so that group of singers/chanters can congregate together much like the old days of terracing!

Might work behind the goal or something, problem is season ticket holders like myself dont want to have some oik sitting in their seat. Even if the ground was 25% full I want my seat confirmed :)

deffo in favour of a 'singing section' will have a word with RM nearer the time, would be good even if only 800/1000 take up offer would still be sing song heaven

They could use the W/X blocks of the West, as usually the club won't allocate seaso seats in those areas. Quite a good idea, though.

Sorry, I cant see anyone wanting to sit in the west stand of Roots Hall when the game is being played at fossetts :)

I think on games where theres lots of space people would wait until kick off then move anyway wouldnt they ?

Ah, I appear to have grasped the wrong end of the stick here. Again... ;)
