as this season creeps to a long painful end

never mind this transfer deadline, surely we have to be looking to the close season, who to stay and who to go, the current squad is clearly only midtable at the most, and form reading the posts , theres players out there playing for themselves as oppose to the club. so with the 3 months of dead matches to come, provided we get those 5 wins to keep us up.

so do we start blooding any of the youth team come april , do we look the players on the fringes, bring them into the fold, like moussa, liptack

its clear that the club has financial problems, and next season, the crowds will probably fall again, so we will be relying on the odd £50,000 player and the loan signing. Surely its best to experiement once we are safe as i think next year could be grimmer,

certian players, like gower, maher hunt should hopefully have time called on their careers wiht us

Yeah but you want Wayne Gray????

If we cant get another proven striker in then i would take Wayne back...

Harrold or Wayne.
Hooper or Wayne.

I was simply making the point that with Leon the team gelled better and we need that sort of linking striker who can mould the team and get goals to propell us up the league...:thump:

Right then,so you'd prefer someone to come in who could have an impact like Leon, right, same as myself.
Then please concede that it won't be Gray and T+B's search continues...:thump:

Simply stating his better than we already have, thus far it looks like we will miss out on the Leon character.

I saw enough of Wayne Gray to make me believe he could boost us up the table.

*puts mouse down, walks to rope, gets on chair, ties to the chanderliers, thinks of more Wayne Gray misery, ties rope round neck.............*

DON'T MAKE ME DO IT:cry:

Fair call, although I would say that with 19 games still to play its a bit too early. Last 12 games and 10 points off the playoffs and I would say start to give the young strikers , Herd and a couple of others a run out.

i was talking to someone about a similar thing on Friday. Although it was more along the lines of i wonder how long Maher will give it before he decides to request a transfer. If he doesn't play again this season how long does he give it?

, the current squad is clearly only midtable at the most,

the effing support at Southend does my head in -

Leeds United (Don Revie, Billy Bremner, Rio Ferdinand, semi-finals of the European Cup etc. etc.) are at Roots Hall tomorrow and we need the points and for the Blues to really do a number on them - and you get some moaner on here about mid table bollox -

Okay, lets pretend we're going up as champions if it keeps you happy. Back to the real world, this team has mid-table writtem all over it. What does (or should) mid-table mean? It means build for next season now, not 2 days before the end of the summer transfer window. I would have supported a bit of "short-termism" to get us a cup run. That opportunity came and went so now it's looking to the future. In my opinion, of course.

whats your point???? hes just stating that the team is clearly a midtable outfit?? do you honestly thing we are a top 3 outfit? listen closely just between you and me....... a team that gets promoted has a fit goal scorer at the club,. doesnt let 3 goals in Regularly at home, has a chairman that spends more than 25g's and does n't ship out players in crutial positions without contemplating bringing in a replacement, but don't tell your friends what I just said Iwould hate to break your illusions. OOOH and lastly I don't think Billy Bremner's gonna be there tomorrow night...

We havent let 3 goals in at home once all season so theres one illusion broken....

well only time (May 08) will tell if we are a mid-table team or not - my problem is with your level of expectation and ambition -

My ambition is clear ... we build for the future now. I wanted us to strengthen last season and go for salvation. I wanted us to strengthen this season and go for cup glory. We did neither. I now think it's time to look to the future.

If you're questioning ambition, surely the length of Barratt's contract is the ultimate lack of ambition as he wasn't good enough for the Championship last time and wouldn't be next time. Perhaps they're not expecting a next time.

I think mid-table will be secured long before May, by the way.

ouch youve ruined me im a broken man. Sorry guys I must have been on the meths again,I tell you all now, WE WILL GO UP AS CHAMPIONS

No we wont, we will be no where near the automatic promotion places and our aim should be 4th-6th as being a successful season.

My point was to highlight how people have these perceptions of how we are doing and whilst its obviously mediocre and mid table at the moment its also not quite as bad as some people make out.

so if you go to the gameTuesday are you sat there thinking -

"come on the Blues - a mid table team like ours will do well to get a point off this lot"

"come on the Blues - a mid table team like ours was always going to get hammered by this lot"

or

"come on the Blues we can have these northern no-marks....."

a lot of Southend supporters share your lack of ambition -
