How many people I wonder would actually get a chubby to watch the decline of SUFC if they actually did go into adminastration(sic)?

I actually think some would actually short term enjoy the downfall, then when it came to needing fans to pick the club back up they'd be firmly at the back of the queue yet first to be shouting off about how crap the newly formed "fans" AFC Southend are being run...

I'm afraid I can't be as rosy as some seem to be. In my mind we've been in the media too much recently on money issues and coupled with the fact that we've done ZILCH in the transfer market apart from offer bids that we know aren't going to get accepted we are seemingly trying to survive next season with a squad that was nowhere near good enough at the start of last season until strengthened by a variety of quality loan signings.

I don't believe for one minute we are going into administration but I do believe next season is going to be the direst we've seen in Tilly's management era. Building a back four around Barrett ? Jeezus Christ. Possibly the worst defender we have on our senior books.

Worst defender, not worst centre back was the accusation from ORM. He isn't the worst defender, we still have Sankofa and Francis as well, I think ORM just has a downer of Barrett, apparently Barrett didn't sign a programme for him once!

Hopefully most of us judge the board and the club by the harsh realities of final position in the table - which is why I take a generally positive view of recent seasons, including last season, and am not going to write off next season before it's even started.

...and much as I like his attacking play, Johnny Herd still has a bit to learn defensively! The thing with Adam seemed to be as much about his 'understanding' with Clarke. Here's hoping that Stepanov and him click - looking forward to some reports from Great Wakering game in a few days' time. Gosh, it's coming to something when even a friendly takes on the aura of 'an event' !

Having lived through the Jobson era and read about the Johnson era I'm quite willing to look beyond a few negatives of this board, I don't think Ron would ever shut a stand just because people got rowdy etc the season before... They're not going to get everything right, nor are they going to please everyone, but at least they're not just doing their level best to shaft the club from all corners, I'd sooner a club that doesn't like dealing with agents than one who give backhanders out etc.
