Would you like to elaborate as to where and from who you heard this (cough) news or is this just the bait in order to catch a whopper?

Nice try sunshine :net: but no cigar

I have heard a few people say that you can't spell though

It all makes sense to me now, those pre-season friendlies against the like of Great Wakering, Witham, Canvey Island, Wivenhoe etc are really designed to prepare us for life in the Ryman League. Damn, how could have I been so stupid not to have seen it.

The rumours seem to be moving in a positive direction - after all only a couple of days ago someone started a thread saying we were about to go out of business altogether.
The source of this latest rumour may be yet another winding up petition brought before the County Court by a company trying it on and then subsequently withdrawn. There has been discussion about this on 606 and someone on there posted a reply he had from Geoffrey King on this subject:

Dear Matt

As you can imagine, a football club lives its life in a very open way with a great deal of attention from the media and the fans.

Like any business, we on occasions have disagreements with suppliers when they do not fulfil their obligations to the Club. Due to our high public profile, people will sometimes try to use this fact to their advantage when there is a disagreement. Rumours like those of which you write would largely be ignored in another industry but here at the Club it creates a great deal of inconvenience for us, which I am sure you can understand. Sometimes this means that other companies use CCJs against us as a first option rather than a last resort. Does this mean that we should let people exploit this high public profile to extract money that we do not think is rightly due? My opinion and that of the Club is that we should stand our ground where we need to. Therefore on occasion we have to deal with the ramifications.

Part of the reason for this is that like any League One club we have to manage our finances and cash flow very carefully. It is true that we need the move to the new stadium in order to increase our revenues further and to enable the team to compete at higher levels. The Chairman and all of the team here at Southend United have done a fantastic job of giving the club enough resources to punch above its weight in recent years, as the results on the pitch testify. The new stadium will allow us to continue this further.

Despite the vagaries of football, the Chairman has always ensured that the Club has sufficient resources to meet its obligations and I know that it is his intention to continue to do so in the future.

Turning now to your point about the Winding Up Petition that was dismissed by the Court on 20 May 2009 and below is an extract from an email from the solicitors acting for the other side in this matter.

“I confirm that, on my client's application, the Petition was this morning dismissed by Mr Registrar Jaques at the High Court.”

Regards
Geoffrey King

Perhaps they are not friendlies but are actual League matches, someone has forgotten to tell us we have been relegated.

There was a rumour posted on our sheep shagging friends up the A12 and covered 2 pages on there message board

of course we had there full support not and the comments where laughable

just because we a have not signed anybody as yet i no its a worry but im sure we will survive but personally i think they will be the ones who will suffer and go on a downward spiral out of business
