Steal of the season, agreed. Fredy will be worth 5 times that in 2 years, and maybe 10 in 5.

No, Ron Martin held out for a reasonable amount, not far short of what Sharp went for.

However I personally think Eastwood agreed to go to Wolves and by refusing to speak to any other clubs forced their hand.

The only option we had at that point was to keep him against his will and lose him for nothing.

In the scheme of things 1.5million plus addons, plus a sell on fee is a bit lower than I wanted but its not terrible either.

You cant sell a player for what he will be worth in 2 years, thats what the sell on fee is for and if he is worth 7 million in 2 years he will leave Wolves and we will be entitled to the sell on then!

missed on some serious money, and now we have about 500,000 to spend on what?

How would you have gone about getting any more money for Eastwood, given the circumstances, the teams interested and the fact the player wanted to go ( to Wolves )?

Why only £500k ?

Who do you think we would have been able to spend much more on?

If Eastwood had gone for 4 million we wouldnt have bought a 2 million pound player anyway.

I think RM was quite clever towards the end. He could have buckled at 1.5 million but he held out well. Come the end only Wolves were interested as Freddy said he wanted to go to wolves, Charlton gave up. He then said they had made a bid, but it didn't match up and he knew Freddy wanted wolves anyway, eventually he took the money. We've got a pretty good deal out of this. If fred has a storming season and then some premiership club comes in with 5 million ala Chopra we see another 1.25m.

we should have just kept our nerve - it seems to me that Moxey tried a "now or never" close on the deal and with the player throwing a sulk RM and ST just lost their bottle -

this week with stupid transfer prices SUFC could have had a major cash injection - OR NOT - its all a game -

Tilly had nothing to do with the money side of things.

500,000 is whats left after the inital 1,500,000, RM will take his bit, plus fees etc, the court case with grays you name it, there will be 500,000 to spend.

Keeping our nerve for what ?

We had an offer circa 2million with add-ons. The player stated he wanted to go to Wolves and wasnt going to speak to anyone else.

No player of equal experience or ability was being sold for more and there was no interest from any Premiership teams which indicates Freddy's ability isnt rated as we thought.

I really dont see what we could have done.

Id have liked 2million + addons but if CSJ is right in that so much would be syphoned off anyway what does it matter....

Im sure though there will be 750k to spend but we wont spend it all on one player.

There were no Premiership clubs in for Eastwood at any stage of the recent negotiations for whatever reason. Norwich ( Earnshaw ) and Charlton ( Bent ) both had serious cash to spend when Eastwood was available. Neither believd he was worth any more than Wolves.

well a few days before he signed for wolves charlton bagged 16m and so i think some people might have been right tos ay that if we had held out then maybe charlton would have entered a bidding war with wolves

At that time. I think RB's point was that we lost our nerve and caved in too early.

But as I have said the fact Freddy removed our bargaining chips we didnt have much choice.

Anyway even if we had been able to play Charlton against Wolves we would only have managed a little more and certainly not the 4 million RB was touting around earlier...

How about the effect it was having on our CURRENT set of players? How was it affecting MORALE in pre-season training?! Knowing one player had already said he wanted out and it was only a matter of time. Knowing Freddy's gone, has undoubtably taken a weight of the shoulders and actually allowed SUFC to look forward now.

This is so tiresome and I think you have actually reached wiggys level of boredom now. Or are you related!?
