Anyone lost their job because of the credit crunch?

Ive been made redundant 3 times in 2 years - the first time due to relocation and the 2nd and 3rd due to businesses going under - sadly im a mortgage & insurance adviser so I couldnt be in a worse trade... When I was made redundant in May I was already 6 months pregnant so not alot about when your very much up the duff!! Haha!!

Ah well - enough self pity - back to the world of work in the new year!!!!!!

This awful credit crunch affects people from all walks of life...

Only the other day, I had to fire the small group of illegal chinese immigrants that spruce up my yacht, so now it only gets two cleans a week. The single mother of three who scrubs and irons my underpants had her wages cut by two thirds and had to sell one of her children to cover her travelling expenses and worst of all, I had to sack my personal valet Clive.
Now I'm having to resort to putting the talcum on by myself.
As I said, it affects all of us.
I'm so sorry Tarquin, you poor thing, chin up old son.

I must be in one of the few industries that isn't affected by credit crunches or recession. Cars will always breakdown or people will forget to drive in a straight line and stove them which means Grout to the rescue. So I would ask the good people of Shrimperzone to kindly keep breaking down. It will put my daughter through collage.

Thank you.

I take it you missed out on it Al...;)

Got made redundant along with all my other 16 colleagues in April from a solicitors who acted for a Commercial Mortgage Company. Been doing temp bits here and there since. No sign of anything permanent on the horizon. Joy.

frankly i'm loving the credit crunch, didn't think i'd be able to get a 3 bed semi for under £100k again, and the other beauty is that rents are going up!
the economic situation (good or bad) is what you make of it

I have not lost my job because of the credit crunch, but having just graduated with a degree in Finance and Mathematics, I cant get a job because of it

No real impact at the moment, however it's been announced this morning that we're getting rid of another 1500 people in the next 10 days *gulp*

I am currently working to full time jobs, one which I loathe but pays the bills and the other is what I enjoy doing but as its hard times out there the work is not consistant enough for me to give up the first one. What is shocking is that most people are reavaluating there pay demands as the market is dictating what they want to pay because of the amount of applicants for jobs. I earn 50% less than I did a year ago and if push came to shove would drop again by 10% to 15% to get a job with good benefits. It will get worse in my opinion and the people who are maxed out on credit and loans are in for a very very tough time!

If by this you mean employers, It is largely due to spiralling costs, and less work about so reducing overheads such as wages is a must if the Company wants to stay profitable.

Excactly which means that the jobs that are available are for alot less money than they were say, a year ago, which does not help things especially when fuel bills and other essentilas are going up!
