I've enjoyed supporting Southend United in my unique way in 2012/13-Okay:not the outcome that we all wanted-but Our Day will come again-Can't believe the Season is over-Thanks SUFC for my trip to Wembley which was one of the best football days of my life.As The Isley Brothers once sang, "I guess I'll always love you".

Spare a thought for the Stockport fans, I'm sure they'd treat being in league 2 like winning the lottery right now. Massive fall through the leagues for them and the fans must be absolutely devastated.

I don't! Barnet have apparently escaped on the final day for the last 4 seasons, it's their turn to go down!

Colchester still not safe, so it's come on Scunny! Far too many Northern clubs coming down next year if the Ewes escape! Would love to have the proper Essex derby back

Is it bollocks. We're currently building Barnet's nomadic home for next season and the last thing I need is to see them go down!!!

Why should we feel any sympathy for a set of supporters who invaded the pitch with the intention of stopping a match they were losing and punching opposition players?

Now its the case of finishing the season, tieing up the players we should keep and then rebuild a team for next season, such a shame when you see players like Ryan hall and Kane Ferdinand go, two players who could of made such a difference this season, never mind time to look forward to next season and hopefully promotion to league 1.

Even a draw could relegate Stockport, it's embarrassing for them as Hyde is above them in the Conference, it's like Braintree Town a league above Southend. That could easily be us, if not for Sturrock.

Why the ridiculous assertion that, without Sturrock we could easily be in a league below Braintree. I'm sure there are loads of managers who, with the budget for players that we have had, could have constructed a team capable of keeping pace with Braintree or better. It might have taken some a little longer, due to the sheer volume of Sturrock's contacts, but I think that without Sturrock it's far more likely we'd be in League One now than the BlueSquare South.

Yep, shocking reports coming out about the behaviour of Stockport supporters.

I agree about tying up this season but I fear for next season, our form since Christmas has been relegation form rather than promotion and I think PB has his job cut out to turn things around.

Yes so true Jaffa , pathetic really when you think about it.Seems the only person that thinks big is RM,just hoping RM and PB can deliver for us next season.

bloody portsmouth should get there -10 next seasn its not fair on all league 2 clubs but oh well neil harris is bck next season and him and corr / akinfenwa will fire us to promotion!! BELEIVE

The thing that annoys me most is the fact that 83 points this year would be enough for 2nd. Possibly the title if Gillingham fail to get a point in their last game

True. Interesting stat, well I thought:

If we lose 2-1 in the final game, we would have the same overall result as our first season with Sturrock.

Won 16, drawn 13, lost 17 with 62 goals scored and 56 goals conceded.

We finished that season 13th and are 11th at the moment.

What Sturrock did, in the face of continuing financial problems was exceptional. He was very unlucky indeed not to get us up last season, and I despair at the facile way his efforts are so easily dismissed. I sincerely hope to be proved wrong, but I suspect we are in for a long stay in League two - to build a squad capable of, and manage that squad to, promotion is a bloody sight harder than you would imagine from listening to the armchair experts, and managers of the ability and knowledge of Luggy are much in demand and rarely appointed at our level.

League 2 - 'division four' is where we have spent most of our existence - get used to it.

I try to explain to people over here that when it comes to football in England, you don't pick your club, your club picks you.
Certainly my generation that is true. Only get to watch 6-7 games a year in person. I've supported an unfashionable, small club that has had modest sucess over the last 42 years. However, I wouldn't change it for the world and will support them through thick and thin.

Has Stockport appoint Sturrock instead of us in summer 2010, they would be in top half of league 2 and pushing for play off and we could be on a slippery slope into conference and struggle down there. The reality that Braintree is a league above Stockport and Stockport is almost same size as us.
