Which is quite amusing as that's exactly the opposite to the way the English media look at him south of the border!

Whether you like the fella or not, you can't deny that he has a lot of ability, and his performances against the very top players in the world (this was his second victory against Federer in three meetings) show that he has the potential to be the best British player for 80 years.

It's also the first time that Federer has been knocked out in the first round of a tournament for nearly four years.

Still think he is an ar£e. It's one of those tricky situations where you feel like you want to support him as he is British / Scottish, but he comes across as very unlikeable. If victories for him helped lift British / Scottish / English tennis standards, then that's great, however I cant help but get the impression he wont give a stuff about giving anything to the game over here and is just out to makes some money for himself.

With regards to him winnning a Grand Slam event....Im still yet to be convinced of his ability to win over 5 sets.

You are correct mate...I can not deny that he is a talented tennis player and it was a good victory......but at the end of the day.

He is a old style sweaty (majority are) and nothing will change that....so as far as i am concerned he is a Fu*cking T*wat

Fair play to him. He has talent but he reminds me of Southend. He fails to deliver, most of the times, but when he is on form, he is damn good!

If they all have the same ****ty attitude as AS then yes.

I can see where you're coming from with that.
I am not putting words in his mouth but I get that sort of post trip depression when I get back here & that's probably why he's venting in terms of Murray & "Sweaty ****s in general".

However, I've seen it from both sides, the hassle I sometimes get up here is on a par with some of the vitriol my Mrs had to put up with whilst we lived down south.

I am trying to keep my head down & ignore it all to be honest now, easiest way of dealing with it! Can't beat a quiet life :D

I'd be incline to say 'well done' to anyone who beats the Fed Express, be they Scottish, English, Venezuelan or Martian.

So well done Andy Murray

This echos my comments about him doing well that i made at 11:28am

Just beaten Verdasco although he rarely got anywhere near the performance against Federer. In fact, he was pretty lucky to win and the first serving was pretty shocking.

Still, it's all about getting through and next up is Davydenko who has not taken a set off of Murray since 2006 and already lost to him in 2008.
