The training ground is where the manager selects his team,By all accounts Freddy has a poor attitude whilst training which explains him being benched.

One of my old teammates was possibly the most skilful player i have seen in womens football she had vision pace and fantastic 1st touch but was a terrible trainer,Last i heard ahe had quit football at the age of 24,God given talent still requires hard work .

Are you talking in the showers after the game :winking:

So it is last 2 home LEAGUE games now whereas,to suit your argument at the beginning,Freddy is the last goalscorer at Roots hall!

So which is it? Last goalscorer or last league goalscorer?

Agreed Philtalkin. Not forgetting that in 1 of those 2 league games in which we did not score Freddy started!!

Freddy did though score when he came off the bench.

Is Sturrock also stubbornly refusing to start Corr who not only scored against Stockport but started the game?

Or, just maybe, he does not feel either are yet fit enough to start on a regular basis.

Tomlin was quality yesterday and Sturrock was fully justified in picking him ahead of Eastwood IMO.

I thought it made sense to bring Corr on as the first change as well as we were knocking ball after ball into the box at that point and Barry could have got on the end of one of them.

I'm a big Eastwood fan but I didn't see much wrong in Sturrock's usage of him against Vale in the circumstances.

Sorry, was talking about Southend. Neal got an 8 also to make the Sun's L2 team of the week. Smith got a 7.
How many times does it happen to us that we end up with the GK of the day in the opposite side to us?!

People keep coming out with this little snippet. I'd love to know who it is that is spreading this idea about. If you watch Freddy during the half time warm up, and see how the other, usually younger, players respond to him, I really doubt that this is the case. I'm not denying the fact he's probably one of those who doesn't particularly enjoy the fitness side of it, but I doubt that really counts as a poor attitude.

If you are happy with a point at home in League 2 then that's fair enough. For me its not good.

We were playing well enough but crying out for someone who could finish for most of the game.

What more can Eastwood do than come on and score as he did against Stockport? Its clear our manager is too stubborn to give Eastwood game time.

If that's the way he wants to go about things then he can f off out from the club for me.

You know what, it's called football. Southend played well and I think the majority seem happy with that performance, I know I am. I don't know how long you have followed this club but we are and have been for most of our time a lower division club. Sturrock is doing wonders here and IMO we are a couple of players away from having a very useful side.
I trust his judgement every time and as much as I want Eastwood to do well, there must be a very good football reason as to why he is not starting.

I did notice when Phillips scored the equaliser against Aldershot all the outfield players ran to congratulate him with the exception of Mr Eastwood who trotted straight back up the pitch to the centre circle all alone.

Perhaps he prefers to be on his own ?

Why is it that some people think we have a god-given right to win every home game.
Sometimes you have to give credit to the away team for a good performance.
Port Vale were probably the best team we have seen here this season, and at times we battered them.
OK so we didn't beat them - you can't win them all.

Eastwood is still a young player with IF he looks after himself many seasons remaining,He surely is not suffering from burn out because last few years he has hardly played,Its easy for some of you to blame PS for not playing him but perhaps Fred has other issues which PS will not tolerate.

Let PS select the team because he knows more than us.

If he has a poor attitude to fitness training, then he won't get fit, and he won't get picked and the cycle will go on.

It's clear Sturrock is not giving Freddy a chance because he did not sign him. He is trying to prove a point by this being too stubborn.

Whatever you say our last 2 home league games have produced 0 goals and that is pretty pathetic.

We are an average league 2 side using a promotion budget. So far this season Sturrock is failing
total crap. Its not. 'clear at all why he isn't being played. None of us know the reasons, you are making assumptions to fit your opinion

I agree that Tomlin has had a good few games, and it would be stupid to drop him when he seems to be hitting a good bit of form. As well as that, Britt can always cause problems.

However, whenever I have seen Freddy play this season, he just looks miles above the rest in terms of class. He adds something different to the team which other members do not. I would rather paly Freddy in front of Corr and Benyon et al, so in my opinion, Freddy should be getting some more playing time since Britt's loan deal expiring soon.

You dont understand its never Freds fault ,Sturrock and Freds previous managers are all to blame for not giving him pitch time:stunned:

Different ways for some to have a pop at the manager. Not much talk of hoof football lately I see.
