I am merely trying to help the lad. Southend fans seem to have extremely high expectations of their forwards following the recent Paynter/Foran/Harrold/Hooper/MacDonald/Morgan/Clarke disaster, so a tune like mine will enable Barnard to get on with his natural game, knowing that he's under no pressure to perform. Which is good news for him, seeing as he's incapable of it.

I am, when you come to think about it, a very thoughtful chap.

As I said elsewhere, it's very unlike you to jump to conclusions about a player after only 3 starts and 5 further sub appearances...

I know I'm not one to make snap judgements about players, but Barnard was the flimsiest, most disinterested and uncommitted loanee I've ever seen. He was convinced he was too good to be playing in the bottom tier, and wasn't prepared to put his nuts on the line to prove everyone otherwise. He lacks pace, power, ability in the air and determination. What's more he looked just as bad for Crewe. I wouldn't touch him with a bargepole - but then I've been known to be wrong before...! :rolleyes:

To be fair, I spend far too much time on the Orient messageboards as well. I am one sad ******* :( :o
 
Barnard has been loaned out by Spurs on 6 different occasions totalling 8 months
in that period he has made 23 starts and 10 sub appearances.

To me that sounds like a player, who dispite not scoring prolifically contributes to the side to an extent that he keeps being selected.

Also the Orient loan was when he has under 20 years old , I would imagine that a number of young loanees struggle when loaned out at lower league sides yet when the chips are down and they are transferred they start performing ( Kightly hardly set the world alight at Farnbrough, yet at the same level with Grays...)
