Standouts for me from this year:

These New Puritans- Hidden (something from Southend worth shouting about given the dire football we've been subjected to this year)
Yeasayer- Odd Blood (Electro-pop at it's finest)
Shearwater- The Golden Archipelago
Delphic- Acolyte

That said, I usually find the real gems in the various 'Best Albums of the Year' lists doing the rounds in December so I'll probably have made a few additions to this list in 2 months time.

The 3 that stand out for me in a truly awful year for music (again) are the Corals new album, the Stornaway album and as others have posted, Delphic which is a great debut album.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Amazing production.

Lots of people seem to be raving about this one but annoyingly it's not available on Spotify. How does it compare to his previous albums?

Lots of people seem to be raving about this one but annoyingly it's not available on Spotify. How does it compare to his previous albums?

Probably just behind College Dropout, but exceeds his other material. If Dark Fantasy had a few more tracks, it'd probably be his best album to date.

Well virtual +rep for the Shearwater tip. Tis a good album. Not so sure about the Midlake however.

Stick with it - I thought it was lousy at first, and I'm a fan. It took at least 6 plays before it started to sink in with me.

Am I the only one that thought 'The Suburbs' was a bit of a let-down after Funeral and Neon Bible?

I personally would've had Thank Me Later ahead of Sir Lucious Left Foot... But I definitely preferred Neon Bible to the Suburbs.
