Not sure this is a good move. Many a good debate on here about Lennys virtues and god knows how many times he has saved us at the back with his pace, Dont think Mc Cormack would have that in his game, although his experience like Ferdinands counts for a lot. With Demetriou great at going forward but not defensively in particular, I wonder whether we could be more vulnerable at the back with Mc Cormack?
On the other hand Phils new vision this season of finally recognising the value of having more than 4 strikers around and going forward, with Lenny powering on we would have to score more to compensate for missing his brilliant defensive capabilities as we would possibly be more frail at the back? More 5-4 wins anyone?

The part in that article that mentions about moving Lenny further forward suggests to me we are not confident about Wordsworth's fitness for the start of the season following that op

In total he played 11 league and 1 cup match last season, totalling 308 mins.. (Avg of 25 mins a game..) So essentially was a substitute!

I wonder if Lenny has said in contract talks he want's to play more attacking? Just a thought

Question; if we were signing him as cover in defence rather than midfield, would this make him a better signing?

I personally doubt he will have the mobility to play in midfield. But if he was signing as a CB, his stocks a bit, but only a bit. It'd please me knowing the club aren't waiting to see what happens with Thompson and Ferdinand. If Brown was to make a signing early I'd want it to be a CB.

There is another thing to consider regarding Leonard. Some are saying why move his position, he's been so good at it. That's fair enough, but what if the player himself has had enough of it. What if, during his new contract discussions, he has stated, "if I sign I want to play further foward."
We don't know whats going on behind the scenes.
On the Macca front, if we were linked to someone else with the same championship pedegree, I'm sure we would think this would be a good addition. I personally felt we lacked some grit in the centre of the park. It would also enable us to play a three man midfield at times. Wordsworth, Lenny, Macca could be decent.

Can cover at CB, Lenny in reality our only holding midfielder and we need two capable an effective in there, he would be a huge upgrade on Deegan (can do the dirty work but critically can use the ball/pick a pass/not give it away). If he came in and had a full pre-season and has no injury worries, and ins sensible money, then I have no problem. Really has to come in early- a 33yr old Macca with no pre-season I would be far less keen on.

Well someone very close to PB if not him if they're revealing his plans to push Lenny further forward, etc. Haven't seen the Echo article and took RHB's post to mean that it had come from PB.

Indeed. It could be someone else at the club that can't keep his or her mouth shut. Either way, that doesn't mean PB went public.

We should be looking to clone Stuart Thurgood and Scott Forbes using Jurassic Park technology in my opinion
