Whilst some of our supporters may be considered idiots (mainly for kicking advertising boards and letting off smoke bombs so I wouldn't be that scared if I were you) I highly doubt they will threaten yourself or your girlfriend in any way simply for wearing Stevenage colours. As you can probably guess by my name and several posts I've made I'm Stevenage fan. Ticket details have been confirmed for the return leg at your place (we only get 900 which raised an eyebrow for me) and me and my girlfriend hope to purchase our tickets tomorrow.
We do however have a few questions.
Firstly and perhaps most importantly as its my girlfriends first ever away match and with recent issues with a few of your fans at the Morecambe game and other matches this season (I assume the troublemakers are in the 1% that every club have) we have questions about what areas to avoid and whether we should keep our colours under wraps until inside the stadium. We'll be travelling in by train to Southend Victoria station and plan to spend a little time down by the front before the game. Does anyone know any particularly good chippies and pubs along there and on the way to the ground (which pub do away supporters tend to frequent?)? Also what are food prices like at Roots Hall in case we decide to eat inside the ground?
Finally if anyone has any other advice it would be great
Looking forward to welcoming you our place this Sunday
Yes,dry flavourless and the buns are sometimes hard like they've not long been defrosted:thumbdown:Are the burgers in the ground that bad? I have this thing about trying a burger at every ground I go to (Even St Albans City with their mystery meat haha).

In regards to chippies there is an excellent one called the 'fish house' about a 5 minute walk away from the ground. Would highly recommend eating there, the chips are amazing. Food prices inside the ground are around about the same as most grounds really, whilst many complain about the burgers I actually think the cheeseburgers have been really good recently so don't be to put off them.

I know they used to be awful! Hadn't had one for about 6 years myself, but I've had 2 or 3 this season and they've been pretty good. Nothing amazing but certainly better than what they used to be.Regarding the cheeseburgers? Do you not eat much mate???
Not had one for about 8 years but my mate had one against Luton and soon wished he hadn't haha
To be fair it's the same price for home fans as well.Your pricing for away fans has also raised a few eyebrows on here too, blimey what a rip-off!
Still that's not your fault so have a safe journey down - we're a very friendly bunch.
It's a bad word on the continent apparently so gets scooped up in the swear filterRe my post above, why was the word m e l t automatically replaced with ****!? Is it also a swear word I was unaware of?
Interesting that we have only given them 900. Does that indicate that we are hoping to sell x and y to home fans? Or do you think it is an initial 900?
I think it is unfair to claim we are a friendly club...similar to
the chap from Luton claiming everyone would be well behaved. If you keep yourself to yourself Stevenage fan...you SHOULD be fine...but it would be irresponsible to promise you will be.
I hope you go out of business with your Rip-off prices.
So if he keeps his head down he might get away without getting beaten up, but no guarantees? That's a nice warm welcome...
Can you gaurantee he will be safe then?
No, but I would have responded in a slightly less confrontational way, maybe that's just me.
It's a shame our club seems to be gathering a reputation on the back of recent events. This fellas girlfriend feels intimidated coming to what I would consider a friendly club and that's a pity. Football isn't all about hardnuts having a tear up but perhaps some people think it is.
What happend to the two tits that used to sit in the Upper South that no one liked .
