The guy is predominantly a RB. If he was to sign and can play wide too then that's a good bonus as potential cover. Just speculation right now though.

I saw some speculation Drury might be going to Scunthorpe. TBH we are not too short of people who can play RB and I'd really prefer to see us getting a natural CB who can also fill in elsewhere.

We are short if quality players that can play right back and that includes John White.

I know that people are pretty divided on this but I don't think White gets anything like the credit his play deserves...

Controversial , but i think White is much better at CB than RB . The modern RB ( especially in a team like ours that is very limited on attacking quality) needs to be comfortable marauding down the wing , taking players on and swinging in decent crosses. IMHO Lenny is the best at the club at this, and with the players we have i m amazed Brown doesnt revert to Coker + Lenny as full backs , with one of our midfielders holding ( Deegan / Timlin )

John White is decent in the air , doesnt make mistakes , excellent positional sense , doesnt dive in or commit ( please teach Bolger this too ) + at centre back you know you can rely on him .

As I said yesterday last season White was one of our top assists, people seem to underestimate his crossing. Checking the stats he created 5, the same as Coker and more than any central midfielder.

I think White is a great crosser of the ball. He just doesn't do it enough.
Does he not go forward because that's the way he is, or because that's the way PB sets up his team.

Last season White got 5 assists in the league. So too did Coker and even Corr. Timlin got 4 and Hursty got 15. The three previous seasons to White, Clohessy got 4,4 and 5, with more goals, so Whites achievements are not special. Probably about what you would hope for from a lot of FB's. Maybe there are one or two that could be marginally better and that margin might be all important.

There is our problem right there, if PB wants to play one up top. I havnt looked but goals from midfielders and defenders cant make good reading this season.

I have no idea why some on here are so negative about John White. To me, he is a very solid pro at this level, can do a job anywhere across the back line and seems an excellent ambassador for the club as captain. His crossing is fine when he does get forward and tbh, the full backs are not gonna get too many assists when we only play one up front at home and the midfield plays deep.

I think the midfield created plenty... it's just no one was on the end of them. Corr has been our focal point since Britt was here, and that typically means launching balls into the box; which Hurst and White are pretty good at.

He isn't as attacking as Coker. White offers nothing off the ball whereas Coker creates (and before them both, Clohessy created) space for others by pushing on.
