A message for Scriven : Man Utd Tickets

Prodigal Son

Manager
Mr. Scriven, you did a pretty good job returning to this board addressing peoples questions, I think the time has come to explain wher all the tickets have gone so speedily, the maths we are applying is raising eyebrows on this site, I think a club post would be appreciated.

I suspect a combination of touts/ Man Utd 'fans' and gloryhunters have worked the system.

This request is made on behalf of those who missed out, I am lucky to have mine.

A helluva lot of people have missed out ... it's seems a little strange ... I know there was no guarantee and I think most people accepted that there was a chance they might miss out. However, for so many people to do so means something somewhere went awry?

That's my point, I doubt the club are behind any misallocation, I think the South East Reds have been out in force.

Having seen the massive queues down there I thought some would miss out

Im just surprised by how many

I thought it a little strange that the club and Scriv went so out of their way to warn people that a ticket for Hull did not guarantee a Man U ticket. This is obviously why they did it.

The lady in the ticket office told me a whole block in the West stand had gone to players' families and complimentary tickets etc.

Well that's Freddy's clan sorted then

I find it quite distasteful that an entire block is being given over to the players friends and families when the east stand blue seats are enough at any other time. People like CSWICKFORD who has as many years supporting Southend as I do under his belt has to watch the biggest game in years for us long suffering fans down a pub because seats are being given up for people who on any other night wouldn't give a flying f%&k about who we were playing. I know for a fact of someone who has got two comps from a player and she had to ask me where the ground was. Theres loyalty for you. Something stinks, and it isn't the chilli I just had.

A couple of tickets for family members maybe, but if a whole block has been dedicated then that is nothing far off a disgrace in my opinion. From what I gather the atmosphere this season has been bad enough, so not sure what bright spark thought to put them all in one section as that is certainly not going to help. Logic needed to to scatter them out around the ground at least.

Being over here in The Netherlands, I was never going to get a ticket and did not have any intention of trying, but it has ****ed me off receiving emails from manc's saying they went to last nights game just to get a ticket and have done so this morning. I hope you get them chucked out, whether mates or not. (Obviously not SUFC's fault although will be if they don't chuck them out!)

I really hope SUFC put a note on the website and in the echo advising any away fans WILL be thrown out.

The trouble is that some of these fans will think that a small club like Southend United won't have many fans and that most people will be cheering for their beloved Manchester United anyway so they won't care whether they are in the home areas or away areas. That's the way it is. That's why kids were wearing MUFC scarves in the queues over the past few days (even in the STH only queues) and why most people probably couldn't give a flying banana whether the tickets go to deserving home fans or evil Man Ure followers. That's the way of football these days ...

I got mine today, nevertheless still angry. But choosing to use 1 match v Hull to sell tickets was always going to cause problems. Who has most supporters in the South east ? Southend or Man Utd, once you answer that one then what's the ratio of the take up of the Hull stubs. Could be 50/50 Southend/Man U. Was always going to cause probelms this way, that's pretty obvious. The queuing/information today was a joke. Sincere sympathy to those who didn't get any tickets after 5 or 6 hours. Aren't genuine supporters actually customers just like everyone else (i.e. sponsors etc).

Im a bit sceptical as when i joined the queue at 4 am....there was approx 40-50 people in front ...i thought if all of them want circa five tickets...the maths are'nt to difficult.....although when the sun came up and with an hour to go the numbers in front increased to about 100 people....waiting for family is one thing but im guessing those others who gained access to the front of the queue through mates probably had stubbs for more tickets.......one happy moment was observing one kid wearing a shirt with 1978 on the back and people were shouting 1978 youre a cheat......the stewards picked up on it and at 8.45 he was sent to the back of the queue with a big cheer from the faithful souls who had been there for most of the night...

From my time on posting on this board over the last 3/4 years Scriven has been a good source of information - but to be fair, he cannot answer the question. Tickets seem to have evaporated in to thin air - if he comes on agreeing that it is all a bit dodge then his job is seriously compromised.

In my humble OPINION, not fact I would suggest one of the following answers:

1. The tickets were all sold this morning in double quick time (unlikely by eye witness reports about queue lengths)

2. The players have been allocated a lot more tickets due to the nature of the game.

3. The club has held back a lot of tickets for companies whom they are hoping for investment from.

4. Man Utd fans have their hands on a few more tickets - hopefully for a significantly more impressive sum than our fans would have paid.

Only a few thoughts - hopefully decisions made over ticketing will benefit the club - I'm sorry to regular fans who have missed out. Living in Devon I never had a chance of going and I feel very sorry for those who have become disillusioned because of it.

Interesting. And the most likely reason, methinks ...

it's a shame that our local councilors are such incorruptible pillars of public service- otherwise a few Man U tickets might help smooth over a certain planning issue. such an idea would of course be a) highly cynical of anyone who suggested it, which i'm certainly not, and b) not representative of the views of Shrimperzone Ltd, their families, and pets

I don't think this is the case as the East Stand is full of STHs so where are you going to seat these people? The West Stand is not the place to make a good initial Corporate impression.

Nope the whole of the East Blues are not Season Ticket seats and are usually where most of the Complementary tickets for League matches are issued.

Other people have posted on here that there were only approx 2,000 tickets available for general sale yesterday morning, were any of these in the East Blue's, I doubt it.
