A list of transfer fees paid - total

I hear Bilston fans still moan about whatever happened to the Ronnie Poutney money..
I think they spent it all on orange paint. Their ground looked hideous when I went there 30+ years ago, before it was subject to over 100 acts of vandalism in 5 years and closed down.
Happily now completely refurbished and in use again.

I think perhaps you mean his stunning hattrick goal at Bristol City,on his 21st birthday ?
No that was Freddy - I was referring to the £25k for Gower - he scored a belter against Rovers in the semi final of the LDV one of the years we got to the final in Cardiff

surprised Collymore wasnt among the best for value buys ,also none of the latest signings there such and GSM, Cardwell, etc Great list but cannot believe some of the 6 figure fees we paid out . Didnt we also sign players like McCrory, Hollis , Threadgold McKinven, Crossan etc from other clubs ..

Interesting how the crap / waste of money signings primarily came in batches 87/88 ; 94/95 ; 01/02/03; and 06/07
Id certainly add Jimmy McAlinden Best Value, he was a class act , OK a bit before my time. Back in the day we nearly made the Championship a few times ( AHA the old Division 2 ) I believe we came 2nd once in the league , only for Football League to change the rule that season only 1 up .

God only if if we had bit of good luck back then , and we made it , I honestly believe we be today a Norwich/ Ipswich / Coventry in support and size. IMHO in turn we could of made it to the top league with our potential and the Mighty 35,000 plus capacity Roots Hall to fill week in week out

1948/9 - Jimmy McAlinden, £6,500 from Stoke
