A game against.....

I saw us play there in the 3rd round replay in 1979. Lost 3-0 after Derek Parker had a one on one with Ray Clemence, and cocked it up as he did in the first game, when the score was 0-0.

And the Kop sang "Southend" which brought a tear to the eye, rather like their appreciation of Havant & Waterlooville.

Bit before my time, but I vaguely remember a copy of Shoot! with a photo of a Southend captain holding up a 4th Division trophy.

I thought we were in the old 3rd division?. We went down the following season, 1979-80 and won the 4th division in 1980-81.

Absolument. I think the team that night was along the lines of: Cawston, Stead, Moody, Cusack, Yates, Morris, Dudley, Hadley, Pountney, Parker, A.N. Other? Sub: Walker. I could be wrong.

Go back and edit, and no-one need ever know what a complete nob you made of yourself. ;)

After from it's been quoted & commented on a few times.....
I did think about actually doing that don't you worry!

My mind's not on the job, panicking about the crowd congestion for Carlisle on Weds night :p

Butterfly wing theory....

The draw happened because everything that happened did so in that order.

If we had beaten Barnsley the bloke who put his hand in to grab the ball may have heard our result and thought thats a shock and spent 0.5 seconds thinking of it.

That 0.5 second would have meant his hand in the bucket would have been in a different place completely and the whole draw would have been different.

In fairness onthe basis of form and our performance we never really expected to knock Barnsley out and the best we could have hoped for was a replay....

your quite right its called the chaos theroy where every action has a ripple effect and produces a completly diiferent set of situations. We've probably missed out on Man U away instead.

gutted that we could have been on our way to liverpool. after all i felt we deserved a replay the other night. perhaps not a win as we didn't create enough.
