A Century United - The Official History of Southend United

Mine was delivered last night, spent the evening thumbing through it, trying to educate the wife as to the history of our wonderful football club. Superb stuff.......The memories, the memories!!!!! Well done to all concerned.

The Book

Dear All,
Thanks very much for the nice comments about the book. Myself and Peter Miles are really delighted with how it has come out and we hope all you good people will be too.
We would love to hear from anyone who has comments on the book, the best of which we will place onto our website.
We are delivering all the Advanced Orders placed from SS postcodes this week - I have done Great Wakering, Shoebury, Thorpe Bay and the east side of Southend on Saturday, Basildon, Corringham, Laindon, Stanford Le Hope and Langdon Hills on Monday, and Rayleigh, Benfleet and Thundersley today. I am doing Hadleigh and some more of Benfleet tomorrow, along with a return trip to the Basildon area and Hockley, plus Canvey tomorrow evening. Anyone who is not in should get a slip of paper that lets them ring me to arrange a suitable delivery time.
Peter is delivering to Westcliff, Eastwood and Leigh this week.
We posted all the ones outside of the SS area last Friday by Recorded Delivery, so if you haven't received it yet, please let us know. PLEASE NOTE - orders outside the SS area placed with the Shrimpers Trust are being posted by Paul Yeomanson, so please check with him if you are one of those orders.
The book will be on sale at Roots Hall from Friday, but they only have 500 copies, so get there early. If they sell out, we will be ordering a reprint.
The book will also be for sale at Waterstones in September, and we have been asked to do a signing at Grindleys in Leigh on September the 1st and 8th, with old playing legends a possibility...I'll let you know as soon as I have any further details.
Finally, the book can be ordered directly from our website now, or via the Shrimpers Trust website from 27th August. Payment on the Shrimper Publishing website can be made by Paypal, Credit or debit card.
Cheers,
Dave Goody

Once again, Very Well Done to you both.. you should be extremely proud of your achievement... to write it was one thing, but to get it published off your own bats takes some doing :)

(no family bias there whatsoever ;) )

Dave, my copy was delivered yesterday afternoon. I started reading it straight away and next thing it was 1am. All that information from the birth of the blues in the 1900's was so detailed that you can imagine being there. Great read, great memories, congratulations on a fantastic book and a must-have for all true blues fans. Thanks!

Received my book tonight - Dave's missus said it would be delivered by 7.30pm - he didn't turn up until 7.35pm ! ! Black mark against you Dave...

Seriously, excellent book. Very professional, and riviting... Didn't realise so much went on in the first few years of the clubs existance. We could have quite easily gone the way of Clapham Common during the First World War.

Got in from work and the Royal Mail had delivered mine, It looks great, had a quick flick and cant wait to get started on it.

any book that calls Drewe a cult hero gets a thumbs up from me :D

Apologies

My sincere apologies to CI-City Blue for my tardy delivery. As an apology, I will let you have a copy of the "Southend United Bicentennial History" book (due out 2106) for free!! Please quote this email when ordering.

Fantastic read ...Well done:)

The most Bizarre thing to me, is seeing a picture of my Grandfather "Ernest Walter Emery" who played during the 1910 era and was the person to introduce me to SUFC in the mid 60's

I have never seen that picture before .....

Thanks .

Have only flicked through it briefly, but as a big rugby league fan* I was really glad (if a little surprised!) to see the big section on Southend Invicta. Great work chaps.

*Awaits abuse from other SZers
