80's casual classic trainers & threads

Wessex

First XI
A thread for all you old fella's, ex cashies and trainer fiends out there to discuss casual threads from back in the days.

What did you like and what just looked weird

I'll kick off

C17 baggy jeans - Classics

Adidas Gazelle's, in club colours, a classic that has stood the test of time

Deerstalker hats - Frankly bizarre, what was that all about

Benetton rugby shirts - Short lived but still remember hordes of poeple wearing them

Patrick Kagoules - early days

Leo Gemelli jumpers.

Rosehills sold them so I refuse to believe they were anything other than the acme of style.

I thought sheepskin coats looked a little odd.

Lois cords where you had to cut an inch at the bottom of the leg to try & get it to sit just right on your trainers of choice.

Trainers - for me either adidas Forest Hills or Diadora Bjorn Borg's (however I mainly had to make do with Trimm-Trabs as my Mum wouldn't pay the £60 for either pairs of choice!)

Cardigans (usually Le Shark) in pastel colours, normally lemon or pink, although summer 1995 IIRC there was a short lived vogue for jade as the colour of choice! What's that all about? :O

Adidas Gazelle................

Pure class

Currently have a pair of -

TrimmTrabNew.jpg

Reissues obviously.. but still pretty swish.

Got three pairs of gazelles, blue with white trim, brown with white trim, and blue with sky blue trim -

Did have a CP millie migalia 2004 winter season - sold a year or so ago for around 400 -

Now, have a couple of IZOD lacoste jackets, 1 CP jacket, and a Paper Stone Island jacket.

Oh my god you lot!!! I thought it was just my sad husband who was obsessed with collecting old adidas trainers!! He has about a dozen pairs - all old rare ones... Couldnt tell you what they are called though - all look the same to me!!!

Anyone remember those sh1te leather / suede patchwork jackets that were around mid eighties, they were over the head stylee like a kagoule but with a funny lace up affair at the top, no hood.

Bloody horrible they were...

Gabicci, another name from the murky past, they used to have some smart polo shirt type tops

Kicker's kick hi boots, red or blue preferably, another classic

Tachinni tracksuits, very desirable around 83 - 84 if I recall correctly

Gazelles all the way, currently have 9 'virgin' pairs in the bottom of the wardrobe, start off with a new pair at the beginning of each season, this year it's been sky blue with navy stripes which match my club tracksuit that I've never worn, last year it was navy and white, and got two classic royal and whites, SUFC old style blue and yellow, and so on.

I think I might have OCD tendencies.

I love my brown and white Gazelles like a brother. They've not gone long to live now though, so desperately hunting around trying to find some. Brown trainer, white sole, white adidas stripes. Beautiful.
