5km Roots Hall Run | Saturday 5th October 2024

To everyone taking part, I will send an email/full post on here/DM or however you got in touch with me to book in with final details but wanted to clarify a couple of bits.

The Roots Hall car park WILL NOT be open for this event, this is due to the club having a sold out car park for the match, and cannot guarantee that people will not leave their car there.

Friends and families CAN spectate and will be housed in Block A of the East Stand.

The meeting point for us will still be the car park, and then we will be taking down for our start/finish point which is the dug out, and then friends and families guided to Block A.




Still time for people to book in for this. I’ve had it reconfirmed that Justin will be taking part along with the three amigos, Stef Russo, Chris Phillips & Adam Duffill. Working on one or two others as well.

All raising money for South East & Central Essex Mind.

This one is a former skipper, who has captained Southend United to promotion.

I’m delighted to announce that former promotion winning captain, and defender, John White will be taking part in the Roots Hall Run.

John, who is currently the assistant manager at Braintree Town, amassed over 250 games for Southend United, scoring 8 goals, and one of those being the crucial first goal vs Sunderland.

John will be taking part before shooting off for Braintree Town’s National League fixture vs Altrincham.

We currently have 34 signed up to take part in this, and would love to try and get to 50. The club wants a list of participants by 10am Friday.

Today is the last day to sign up to this event. A unique chance to run round the perimeter of the Roots Hall pitch all in the name of charity, raising money for the incredible South East & Central Essex Mind.

We look set to have in attendance for this event, so if you’re on the fence about joining, please get in touch.

Suitable for all ages and abilities. My four year old son will do a lap or two, I may have our one year old in the buggy and two of my nephews who are 3 & 6 will be joining in.

The weather is looking good, and it’ll be the perfect warm up ahead of the Match for Mind vs Maidenhead in the afternoon.

Come join Justin Rees, Kevin Maher, Darren Currie, Mark Bentley, Stef Russo, John White, Adam Duffill, Chris Phillips and plenty of other Shrimpers.

The final participants list has been emailed across to the club, and we have people signed up to take part in tomorrows Roots Hall Run.

I’m popping over to the club shortly to drop off the water for the event too, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own if you don’t wish.

I’m absolutely over the moon with the feedback and the sign up to this. The weather looks set to be okay as well.

Remember to bring family and friends along too. I have a photographer for the event too, so all the photos I’ll share with the people taking part when they are processed.
