5 Players who made you fall in love with Southend and Football

The nature of the question asked means,I think, answers should come from fans’ initial watching—say the first five years, thus ruling out the likes of Stan and Freddie. My choices:
S.U.
Sammy McCrory
Duggie Price
Peter Corthine
Peter Watson
Kevin Baron

Other
Jimmy Greaves. Chelsea
Johnny Haynes. Fulham
Bobby Robson WBA
John Charles. Leeds
Duncan Edwards Manure
agree with your 5 year criterion, my choice as follows: kevin baron ken bainbridge sammy mccrory john mckinven dennis howe for the rest, the great hungarian team that beat england 6-3 and 7-1

Yeah I was thinking this. I started in 84/5 which was a dreadful time so the first great players I can remember that made me fall in love would be

Phillips
Cadette
Donut
Pennyfather
Ling
That was my first season too. To be honest I fell in love with Roots Hall more than any particular player. My favourite from that season though was Glenn Pennyfather and the on loan Charlie Williamson. Think it was the hair cuts.

Ha the place was great back then- the atmosphere was terrible, but as an 8 year old to hear all the swearing and the ferocity and when we did win it was incredible.

Also my first season! My top 5 almost matched Napster (I had Paul Clark for his Martin Ling), we all had Pennyfather .. it was totally the hair and the name.
First game was 1-4 against Blackpool but that was it for me! Begged to come back, daft sod.

My dad said if I misbehaved he'd take me again, I was obviously a naughty kid.
