I have just read through most of the posts on here for the last hour and what i have read is shocking!
yes we didnt win today but we were not that bad, i have seen us play worst and win!
For some supporters on here you need to remember what a great job the players have done over the season as well as tilly and brush.
To see comments on here such as " wished gray had had his career ruined today" is a disgrace and is the worst comment made by any blues fan ever!
As well as seeing that Tilly does not know when to bring on subs!
Fans saying that we will struggle!

What is wrong with everyone, we have had our best season for a very long time and i for one am proud of my team SOUTHEND UNITED.

Even in the ground people were moaning and leaving with 15 mins left!
I would rather go back to 4000 crowds who all stick together and get behind the blues.

I am still seething about the post about gray!

Anyway if you read this tilly, brush or the players you have done me proud this season and will wear my shirt with pride tomorrow.

I blame it all on Gower, he was s**t today, and no mistake

Im surprised Tilly took so long to sub him

I loved the announcer saying 'Ive looked at the table and we're still 9 points clear'...well there was only 1 other game, muppet!

dont you understand this thread its not about who is to blame its about sticking together!
What about i blame you because you didnt get behind the team enough

My throat is still sore from cheering on the team

I was behind the team, but that first half was appalling

Punt it upfield for our strikers to try and get past their defence, which didnt work

I love Southend, but we had a bad game today and only the blind or the naively positive would say otherwise

(saying that, goalline clearances and obvious misses aside, it just wasnt going to be our day)

He said that to shut up the Gillingham fans chanting "Championship you are having a laugh"

The fact of the matter is that we still are 9 points clear, which whilst may well be reduced tomorrow but even so is a decent place to be in!

Of course

We are almost up

But it still made me laugh

It made me laugh too as it made the Gills fans look a little daft.

It was a frustrating game today, but we created chances, dominated the second half and should have got something from it.

Not the end of the world.

Losing to Doncaster would be the end of the world

Well said. I agree we've played worse this season and won, but unfortunately it's results that matter. We played well in the 2nd half but just couldn't stick the ball in the back of the net. Yes Gray was very poor but to wish that he would end his career is harsh. Gillingham are a good side who are in good form and have upset a number of the promotion contenders lately, so it was never going to be easy. Their season is over so there was no pressure on them today. At least on Monday the pressure will be on Barnsley aswell, so let's not get too down. I'm still confident we can win on Monday and lift the League One trophy.

back to the days near the bottom of league 2? no money and a bleak future ahead? i would rather not...

The original post summed up exactly how i felt after the match and after reading some of the comments on here, we were the better team and had luck been on our side we would of grabbed an equaliser and even a winner. Its not as if we were outclassed today, just a little nervous and unlucky at the same time.

I dont completely agree about the fans situation, however, for 11000 people there was no atmosphere today and seemed as though alot of people who werent fans this time last season were there simply to see us win but not to encourage and support the side.

I welcome new fans and of course it only has benefits for the club but only when they get behind the team and back them no matter what, not just expect a win because we are top of the league and moan if this isnt delivered, would prefer to have had 6000 encouraging, proper blues fans today rather than what we got.

But the atmosphere this season has been crap however many fans have turned up.

I'd rather see the club sell 11,100 tickets and gain financially than see several thousand empty seats yet with little improvement in atmosphere.

What a crap day, my first home game this season started by spilling hot drink down my shirt on the train up at 8am, train delayed, so missed first five minutes of match due to queue, and missed next ten looking at peoples backs whilst they were trying to sit down. Also programmes had sold out, then we go and lose.
But we are still top of the league!! How many of us expected that at the beginning of the season?
The worst thing about yesterday was the atmosphere, has it been like it all season? We did'nt get behind the team enough in the first half. There were efforts to get things going, but when surrounded by people who don't want to give any vocal backing it dies out.

Yeah Cole should have been given at least half hour considering how well he played when he was subbed on against the Blackpool! Yet again Tilly leaves it to late for a sub.

I also thought Gray should have made way for Lawson as well, Gray didn't have a good game IMHO.

Keep the faith!

UP THE BLUES!

I agree with you sadly Andrew. Anyone who has posted negative comments on here should think that at the start of this season we would have all been satisfied with staying up and ecstatic with getting into the play offs - after the season we've all witnessed no one should be slagging the team off!!

Gillingham are on a great run, they've beaten other good teams and I have thought for the last few weeks that we might hiccup yesterday!

Its a real shame that our new found fan base - whilst they provide new income to the club - dont sing a bit at home games. I hate getting outsung by away fans - especially pikey's from Gillingham!!

Yesterday was disappointing but putting things into perspective we are top of the league, still on course for the championship and we should be very proud of our club.

Am sure on Monday we'll get back on track and lets hope that one game lost yesterday doesnt mean that people dont travel to Barnsley!!

That was me and it was a bad choice of words founded from exasperation as even without the Goat available we still had plenty of other options which in my opinion would have served us better. Perhaps I should have said "hope he had suffered a minor knock which would have meant he had to be taken off"

I wouldnt knock the team on general though as we still made a few chances and had quite a lot of possession but at the end of the day a supporter who pays his money is surely entitled to air his opinion, good or bad.

I think a lot of people were frustrated yesterday

Having had time to think about it, Im a lot calmer now.

One fan made me laugh on the way out, turning to his mate and going 'Well thats another weekend ruined'

I didn't think that was the case. The only time they made some real noise was when they scored, the rest of the time they tried chanting, all four sides of the ground chanted back. OK, the atmosphere might not have been excellent, but I still thought it was good, particularly in the second half, and I thought the crowd did a good job to lift the team shortly after the goal.

There's a difference between an opinion on someone's performance and wishing a devastating injury.

Bad choice of words doesn't cut it. I have to agree with this thread, that was a purely disgusting comment.
