3-4-3 next season? Brilliant or Brave?

Chasing a game is slightly different, Norwich took their foot of the pedal and we took advantage. the formation is better suited as an act of desperation or "weve nothing to lose now" mentality rather than a formation to use on a consistant basis.

3-4-3 isnt the sort of formation you want to be playing with these new additions to the team. Keep it simple, 4-4-2 all the way. Let the players gel first and then mess around with the formations.

Totally agree, every team i've played for from baddow spartak under 7s through to the mighty priory sports have played 4-4-2. Its the way every kid in this country learns to play, meaning it is the easiest formation for new players to adapt to. 4-4-2 to start, experiment later.

I actually grew up with 4-3-3 rather than 4-4-2, which I only experienced for the first time at 14, when my secondary school team started playing it. It confused me initially as I used to play as an out-and-out left winger in the 4-3-3 system, which meant I had barely any defensive duties, whereas in the 4-4-2 I had to learn to track back.

Anyway, that's a bit of a digression from the topic. Personally I think Tilly will stick with 4-4-2 as his basic formation and rightly so as we've had a lot of success playing that way. However, it's good that he's considering other systems as one of our failures last season was the lack of a plan B when things weren't going right. If he can get the squad used to a system like 3-4-3 in these friendlies and training matches then it could be a potentially excellent weapon in the last 20-30 minutes of matches if we need more attacking options.

i thought 3-4-3 sounded good at first but seeing them try it in the first half against wakering its really put me off. i would stick with the normal 4-4-2

I think it safe to say that 4 3 3 will not be featured very much, as mentioned before we got a lot of forwards who need pre season action.
Plus it not really a shock seen tilly use it before.

Rather than play 3-4-3 tonight, Tilly stuck Ademeno at left back, so methinks he might have pushed the thought to one side!
