I reckon a season long loan for Lenny seems the most obvious potential deal. Not sure Payne is the player we need and I imagine Huddersfield will want him in the Championship next season. Hooper is on a substantial wage so surely won’t be him and Assombalonga is out of the question for quite a few reasons.

Only other one it could be (and maybe the most realistic) is Grant, but not sure how much of a wow signing that would be. Would still gladly get him in though.

Dervitte or Mantom would be my guesses. Hooper is under contract for another season at Wednesday whilst I don't envisage Leonard or Payne returning.

But they were both loanees, and the original poster said it wasn't a loanee but someone we had under contract....

We do have more than one target. A certain player has been mentioned on here who is on our priority list. As for the wow signing it could be someone who wasn't playing in the EFL last season.

For me there are only two possibilities if this is truly a 'wow' signing .... it would have to be Lenny or Hooper, I might be wrong but I think Assombalonga was only ever on loan to us so that rules him out ?

Over the last couple of years Ron has backed his manager with big name signings Ferdinand, Cox, MAF, Kightly all of whom I think this site ruled out because Ron wouldn't pay the wages .... well he did ! ....... So .... just maybe .... Ron splashing the cash again and Gary Hooper can be tempted by a 3 year contract and a move back down south ?

Would that mean Simon Cox is released though! Think both need a target man alongside to get the best out of them ? Would a front two of Hooper and Cox work ?
