Fred of old without a doubt, but the 2012 version is starting to worry me.

I wasn't at the Peterborough game but have heard from plenty of people that Fred was looking a lot trimmer, had the touch back and showed glimpses of causing problems, that was against a Championship defense.

I had no doubt when he signed and I still don't that, when back in the side, scoring goals, he'll seem a lot more like his old self. He's been so down on his confidence with his unsuccessful spells at Wolves and Coventry but coming back here, he becomes the big fish in the small pond again, a massive confidence booster for him, if nothing else.

a massive confidence booster for him, if nothing else.

Not to mention the experience he brings to the team, and the volume levels he generates from the fans, which lift the whole stadium. Whether or not he deserves this on the back of his latest spell with the club, his inclusion can only be positive IMO, even if he's not quite up to the standard of old (which we don't know yet - lets let him have an extended run in the team before drawing conclusions). The sooner he's back and generating some excitement and expectation, the better.

Fred looked ok at posh, but he came on with the score 0-3 against a side who knew their job was done and the fact he ran about a bit and got on the ball put him head and shoulders above his colleagues who neither ran about a bit nor got on the ball

I'm more than worried that Eastwood Mk II has neither the desire nor the quality about him to make too much of an influence this season, too much has happened since Mk I for them to be considered the same individual IMO

Whilst his desire to play the game might be questionable, he definitely looks to have improved technically since he's left us and is a stronger player now as well. Of course the issue is now getting him fit and getting his old confidence back into him, which must have taken a hit in the intervening years.

Barry Corr got the right ump when CP called him a crock for having a 'slight' hamstring strain...

We haven't seen or heard anything else since and this was before the Madrid tour, so over a month ago! I really do think the bloke is finished and really needs to consider retirement before crippling himself for life.

As for Freddy, when fit he simply has to be first choice. Even if he's not the Freddy of 2005/06, he's still a cut above anything else in this league.

Sorry can't accept that - he has done next to nothing football wise for a long time now, ask the Coventry fans. Jury is very much out for me.

But before he had the likes of Gower, Maher, Goater, Gray, Prior, Edwards, Flahavan in the side with him

Now he has Prosser, Stroker, Timlin, Barker ... i think i'd recover a bit slower from knocks if i had to drag that pile of **** up by the bootlaces

Freddie is a top player and when on song will fire the goals in early days in season fortunes will start to change and a rise up the table is a cert

Why choose 3 of our weaker players who are also non creative to make you point correct?
