Youth Team
Does anybody know when we will have at least one of our presumably first choice strikers (Eastwood and Corr) fit?

Going into our 4th game and I have not heard anything of their return!

Eastwood had a fitness test last Saturday for the Northampton game, so I assume he was close to being fit then. I assume he has been training all week, and will probably be on the bench Saturday.

I think Eastwood is hoping to be fit for Wycombe. Didn't want to risk it against Northampton. Would be interesting to see how him and Corr would work up front, because if they click then that could be a lethal pairing.

I agree but Corr got into a spat on twitter with CP over his groin injury. He was said then that it was a setback that should only be for a few days, that was over a month ago. Then a few weeks ago it was claimed he was two weeks away from playing, I'm starting to wonder if we will ever see him in a Southend shirt again.

Not sure if Corr will play again personally. We already have Tomlin, Freddy, Harris, Benyon and now Assombalonga who I can see hanging around for more than a month. Has Luggy not said he is chasing a targetman? Would seem to suggest that Corr is a long way off playing.

It may take a while, as he hasn't had the full preseason others have ahd but I'm sure BBBC will be back sooner rather than later. His knee is ok now by all accounts, it's a groin injury that's flared up a couple of times as niggles often do when a player has had such a lengthy lay-off. Reminds me alot of Mark Phillips, he came back from a season out when many doubted he would (including me), and ended up POTY.

I know there has been a lot of negative comments regarding Benyons worth etc , but still think he has not been given a decent run in the team ( certainly not since we started to try and play a bit more to feet ).
I think the guy is better than we've seen so far and hope he gets a decent chance soon.

Feel realy sorry for Corr, had maybe his best season of his career, for us then this. Imo though if he is not back playing by Xmas he has to be cut adrift, with money worries we have, this cant go on much longer.

Barry Corr got the right ump when CP called him a crock for having a 'slight' hamstring strain...

We haven't seen or heard anything else since and this was before the Madrid tour, so over a month ago! I really do think the bloke is finished and really needs to consider retirement before crippling himself for life.

As for Freddy, when fit he simply has to be first choice. Even if he's not the Freddy of 2005/06, he's still a cut above anything else in this league.

BBBC's knee is fine- and this is the problem. If it was more knee problems the doom and gloom would be justified. Its not.
He was given a new contract because the prognosis warrants it. I would expect him to start appearing on the bench next month.

Not surprised he was offended to be called a crock when having worked so hard to get right and a new contract he gets called a crock because he gets a groin injury. Presumambly if he comes back plays 10 games and gets a nose bleed he will once again be labelled a crock.

I note at Millwall MP had the nickname sicknote. And after a long lay off he similarly had groin problems. However, look how many games he played last season and I will to bet he will play 30-35 this.

Freddy is a game changer which is something we have missed! Once he gets one and the confidence flowing he will be lethal!

At the moment it seems that our first choices are Assombalonga and Tomlin, both of whom have looked pretty bright in the opening few games, Tomlin in particular I think has been a bit unlucky not to score yet - hopefully he will rectify this on Saturday. If Freddy is fit again (and I pray he is) we may see Tomlin dropped back into the middle (he can play as a winger) with Assombalonga and Freddy up front.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Luggy said that Corr was out for a couple more weeks and would then need to get match fit, so I reckon we don't stand much chance of seeing him again for a month at least.

I think any combination of Corr, Harris and Freddy could work well. We saw glimpses of how Freddy brought out the best in Harris and vice versa last season.

He certainly looks fitter than at any time last season.

Let's be honest , most peoples views of Freddy are based on his previous time here.
Nobody know for sure what he will or wont do this time.
There is the argument that class never leaves you and think that is a valid point.
But injuries and confidence play a part as time goes on and this shouldn't be underestimated.
Everyone wants him to succeed and let's hope he does , but I don;t buy into this "The King is back and all will be good again".
If Hall and Mohsni go ( along with Grant ) and we don't get decent replacements , even a fit and raring to go Freddy may not get the service and support of old.
Let's see.
As for Corr , I'm sure he would not have been given a contract if the management thought he wasn't going to play again , so suspect it is just a matter of time.
