16 Days left of Antivirus Protection

There's really no need to pay for any security software for a home PC. I've got the following running:

Firewall: COMODO Firewall Pro.

Anti-Spyware: Spybot Search & Destroy.

Antivirus: AVG 7.5.

I have Spybot and AVG scheduled to perform daily overnight scans, and I've never had a problem.

One additional note - AVG recently released version 8.0 of their software, but it seems to be a lot more resource intensive than previous versions. After a few system hangs I rolled back to 7.5 and the problems ceased. 7.5 is still fully supported with regular updates.

OK.....have just deleted Norton's....no problems at all and installed AVG ver 8.

Will feedback on results

Bought a new PC from PC World a couple of weeks ago and the bloke gave me the shpeel about Norton but I told him where to go as I know somethings that is twice as good and is free (compared to £30 per year)... AVG

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet A_S but AVG isn't to shabby ;-)

I kind of got that impression

I tell you what.....my PC has speeded up massively, Web sites load faster and things like MSN and Outlook load a lot faster, just hope that is because nothing is being checked.

:O

I am another advocate of AVG, also use Sunbelt Kerio Firewall, as it most configurable free Firewall you can get. Unfortunately on the Wife Vista machine I have to use ZoneAlarm as that is the only free one available for Vista that I would trust. I have used Comodo but prefer Sunbelt Kerio.
