100 things we won't miss about Nicky Bailey

CC51DAS

President
As a kind of send off - fond farewell ? - I thought it would be rather nice to prepare a thread that can be printed off and pinned on the board in the Charlton dressing room alongside the teamsheet maybe .

So I'll start

Dear Nicky we're sorry to see you go but I won't miss

1 - Your pathetic habit of diving in the box and trying to con the ref
( lucky you weren't booked last Saturday - again )

2 - your often wayward passing

3 -The way you scythe players down unnecessarily giving away the advantage ( or getting yourself booked /sent off eg Swansea away last year and effectively handing the game to the opposition )

4 - Your ginger hair - sorry if that's a bit personal :)

5 - Your evidently enormous ego

6 - your head butting exchanges with your 'team-mates'

11. Oh, and for ******* up when you first arrived by calling your new baby daughter "Tilly".

13. We won't miss the player who 'turned up' for the Doncaster playoff game.

14. Your fat greed filled wallet weighing down the team bus.

You'll have to imagine the freckles.

I will miss his ability to tackle, head pass and score goals. Unfortunately we don’t have another player who can do a combination of two of these, but why worry about that when it’s a lot easier to slag off a player who is leaving to better himself both financially and career wise.

What is your problem mate. I dont mind that he wants to go to a better club but I do mind that he is basically refusing to play for us (that hip injury will clear up for his medical today im sure!) and yet is still happy to collect his wages. What is wrong with a bit of loyalty to a club that have taken him from league 2 mediocrity to one of the best clubs in L1 and to a set of supporters that have been 100% behind him as well?

The groundsman & janitor wont miss having to clear up his ginger pubes which fall out onto the pitch & get tangled in the shower drain respectively.

I would be happy for him if he didn't act like a complete ****.

You mean by being put on the transfer list when he didn’t ask to be? Then when someone comes in for him, as he is on the list, everyone wonders why he wants to leave.
At the end of the day, the bloke needs to do the best for himself but because he did well for us last year people can't accept it.

I don’t see many posts slating the club off for the way they dumped Maher after his outstanding years of service.

I obviously don’t know all the facts, and I doubt if anyone on here does, but if the Club had made him a decent offer to try and encourage him to stay in the first place, he might not be leaving, and its great for Ron to come out and say “we only want players here who really want to play for Southend” but if you offered most of them a big pay rise and the chance to play at a higher level, they would be off like a shot, and I wouldn’t blame them.

Its time some of you people woke up to reality.

In fairness though it was Ron Martin put him on the transfer list. He didn't ask to leave until someone came in for him. RM obviously never had a problem with selling our best player as he wouldn't have faxed details of Bailey's availability to other clubs. It's all very well moaning about 'players who dont want to be here'.

I dont mind him leaving and I would probably do the same in his situation but I just dont like the way he has gone about it i.e. by going to the media, saying how he didnt want to play for us, having this "hip" injury etc. I think if he had said that he would put his head down and give 100% for us and then if the right bid for the club came in he would go, then people would have been happy but all the sulking etc is just pathetic

I dont like any top players who leave.. Eastwood , Gower, Bailey.. I hope they all fail miserably and regret leaving.. not very mature I know but bothered, its football **** em.. Players like Paynter etc I really want to do well .. again no logic to it thats just the way it is...

What is your problem mate

Firstly I don’t have a problem and secondly you are not my mate.
The supporters have been 100% behind him because he is a good player. If he had been **** they would have booed him off the pitch and you wouldn’t be bothered about him leaving.

He played on Saturday, he didn’t play last night – big deal. Why should he be loyal? If he had been rubbish the club would have dumped him – like they did with Maher and Black. Im not slagging them off for that but it works both ways - especially when he has been put on the transfer list without asking.
Maybe Ron has messed up, just like he has with Clarke. He needs to realise Southend United can't draw players to it like Real Madrid can, and perhaps you should view things from a real world perspective and realise not everyone loves this club as much as the fans do.
