    Player of the Year

I've got nothing against Barker winning player of the season but I feel for Barry Corr. To have scored 20 goals before today and be overlooked for at least 3rd place is shocking in my opinion. Was a different story when Eastwood scored that many in this league.
  3. "Welsh" Ex-Shrimpers

I'm off to Cardiff tomorrow and I'm wondering if our 2 "Welsh" Ex-Shrimpers,Freddy Eastwood and Hal Robson-Kanu will feature. One bookie has Freddy at 12/1 and HRK at 16/1 to score the first goal.

    Chadded's Top Tip.

Wales Double Chance on Bet 365 against England on Sat is 13/8. If you really fancy a gamble, Lord Freddy of Eastwood is 16/1 to score first and 11/2 to score anytime. If anyone knows what Freddy can do in big games, it's us. That said, will he start?

    Freddy Eastwood

Couldn't see this anywhere else. Been called up to the Wales squad for the England game next weekend. http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10269~2318734,00.html
  6. In all seriousness if Mohsni.....

.....was fit enough to go straight back into the side on Friday (I know he isn't and won't but hypothetically speaking) I'd actually have still given us a slight glimmer of hope of gatecrashing the top 7. I think all the past 6 weeks has shown us is just how vital Bilel is to us (aswell as the...

Memory Lane On this day ... 10th March

Plenty of memories for me here, notably anti-hero Tilsons first goal for the club verses champions-elect Wolves, i'm sure this is the game where Paul Clark destroyed Steve Bull in the first 5 minutes escaped with a booking and rendered the usually lethal Bull a mere passenger, a 2-2 at Blackburn...
  8. Memory Lane On this day .....

Six years ago today we secured a place in our second LDV final with a 2-2 draw at home with Bristol Rovers. Eastwood and Gray scoring the goals.

    Spurs or Man United

What was the better team; who deserved more plaudits - Tilly or Webb? The line-ups v Spurs in October 1989: Southend United - Sansome, Dixon (Edinburgh 71), Roberts, Martin, Prior, Brush, Cook (Walsh 90), Butler, Crown, McDonough, Bennett Spurs - Thorsvedt, M.Thomas (Howells 55), Van den...

How bout a bit of credit for Barry Corr, regularly

....pops up and gets us the points. Suffers from injury and still does the business. Not quite as fashionable as Eastwood but very effective for us in this league and very underated on here. Thanks Barry, your goals have kept our season alive!

A Bit of Fun Freddy Eastwood loan target

The tell-tale signs of fresh horse manure in the Roots Hall car park yesterday, could be one clue as to who the Blues will be tapping up to secure their future. Stands to reason, as Freddy must be one of the last people left that RM hasn't approached by now.
  13. Ref Watch ...... Macclesfield again

Tomorrow night we have the experienced and normally very decent Mick Russell from St Albans. If I were writing this 18 months ago, I'd be extolling his virtues, but of late things haven't gone quite so well. A steady official, this will be his 10th Southend match and his 6th at Roots Hall...

    Best ever individual displays

Following on from Yorkshire Blue's thread about inept displays, I thought I might as well start one about towering displays of immenseness. Off the top of my head, I have to nominate Freddy Eastwood's debut, on Sat 16 Oct 04. If scoring after 7 seconds of your debut isn't enough, he finishes...

Question Less than the sum of our parts...?

The potential signing of Lee Sawyer (which I bloomin' well hope comes off) has got me thinking... why is it that we're not doing better in the League? What's not working with this side? After all, we now have a potential line-up as follows: ________________________Morris_____________________...
  17. This adds up, see what you think...

Sainsbury's want to get into Roots Hall by 2012, not one brick has been laid at our new stadium, where are we going to go. Eastwood School is building a sort of stadium with a FIFA approved football pitch that is due to be completed for the 2012 GB Games, Are you thinking what I'm thinking.

Memory Lane Your Top 10 Blues Players

Hi folks, now where were we before we were so rudely interupted? I was asking for your top 10 favourite blues players. Until the "American Incident" we'd had 55 responses. I've compiled an overall list which I'll post shortly, but if anyone didn't post a top 10 please do so - Top 10's must be...
  19. Ref Watch ..... Burton away

Can't see it happening myself (buying those very cheap advance rail tickets doesn't seem quite so smart now!) but if it does, the man in charge is Iain Williamson from Berkshire who is in his 7th season as a League referee. Played non-league for Walton & Hersham until injury forced him into...

    House alarms

Having recently purchased and moved into Eastwood Palace, I'm after getting a decent house alarm fitted to my gaff. Can anyone recommend a suitable company?
