FA Cup idea

The Champions League has been killing English football for years now. It's created a cartel of clubs at the top who claim the top money and use it to buy the best players. That's why the same four teams dominate the league in this country.

They tend to win the cup almost by default but that's as much down to the choice of a lot of Premiership managers not to field strong sides. Clubs like Everton and Blackburn could have gone far in this year's competition but instead they fielded reserve sides in the third round and got knocked out.

If you want to campaign for one thing that will boost the Cup, and English football as a whole, make it to revert back to having a European Cup with one club from each country entering.

Good call, but it'll never happen.... let the big 4 sod off and form their super Euro league and leave the rest of us in peace :D

Would hate this idea. The FA cup is the best cup competition in the world, so why change it??

The way it is means the minows can find themselves in the 1/4 finals or something. There are still shock results, Oldham v Everton and Blackburn v Coventry springing to mind this year, not to mention Luton earning a replay, and Havant

Honourable mention to Peterborough ??

Oh sorry, that wasn't a shock :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

it's only a few years since millwall made the final

And West Ham were seconds away from winning it in 2006. It's still possible for teams outside the Big 4 to win it, even if it is less likely than it might have been twenty years ago.

Leave the FA Cup as it is. The great thing about it is how it's essentially the same as it's always been. Cup competitions in other countries get shifted around the schedules and they naff about with two legged games and such like. I love it that if it's the first weekend in January, it's FA Cup 3rd round time and almost anything can happen.

How about the idea of having a separate squad for the FA Cup and Carling Cup?

Lets say that at the point of entry into the competition you have to "declare" a squad of, say, 23 players. Only those players are permitted to play in that competition.

It means that if a club was going to play the kids, they had to do so for the whole competition rather than just the early rounds.

Get rid of the boring Chumpions League:guns: replace that with an International Euro League for England then footie will revert back to the good old days of the FA Cup being the greatest competition in the world!

Of course if you support Arsenal,Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and QPR(3years time) then you'll disagree!:finger:

Rep for this.
I hate to see the kids of Arsenal or whoever make it through the rounds and then at the semi-final and the final you always see the first-teamers.
I would say a squad of 23 would be plentiful.

i would hate to be the kid who plays well, scores a few goals and then gets dropped for the semis
