Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
I don’t think either of the CCBs would be happy as a squad player. I think it’s one or the other personally.
Completely agree which is why I flagged it as being on the greedy side. Realistically we only need one CB signing, if we got Francillette or a similar caliber starting central CB I think we could probably make-do with the combination of Gubbins & Crowther backing up the starting trio. A 6th CB would be a nice luxury to have in case of injuries, but I wouldn't deem it as absolutely essential.

As some others have mentioned above, while Sam Austin is extremely versatile and can likely cover the LWB/LM role, he's naturally right-footed so he may not be an ideal fit for the defensive duties required by that position in our system. A specialist LWB to displace Bridge from the starting XI might be a better allocation of funds than a 6th CB.

I said a while back I think the overall priority is a centre centre back. and i think that decision is massive. whoever plays middle centre back is so important to how we play with and without the ball. we need to go all out. I'd Gubbins to get a go there because it's such a vital position for us

Whoever plays in that role needs to be dominant in the air. Gubbins despite his size is pretty poor in the air and also not strong enough against big physical players. In other words it would be a disaster.
