New Signing Sam Austin Signs

League winner - knows how it feels to get promoted
Winger with an eye for a pass

Bit of pace

However look at the two goals he scored against us , both put on a plate for him with a killer pass , that is what our strikers need

that's the spirit

To be absolutely blunt. When the signing was announced. They said WINGER!!

What's the job or a winger please enlighten me!?!?

Now, sods law about 20 mins later mentioned he plays all over the park.

I just wish when it was announced a player who can play all over the pitch.

I wouldn't have moaned as I was purley looking at the stats as a WINGER!

Job of a WINGER - mainly assists he had 1 or 2 last season

Are we all 🔮 clear now?!?

I welcome him to club. Good luck to the boy

It doesn't matter how many signings other NL clubs have made, bringing in Sam Austin dwarfs them all and, signals real intent. If the COSU way regarding transfers is quality over quantity, thats good enough for me.
But hang on we’ve ONLY made two. Why haven’t we signed 20 and splashed the cash? Maher out, let’s get Cardwell back, let’s get Barrett managing oh and our keepers, centre backs, midfielders and current forwards are so sheite we’ll never make the play offs with them.

I’m glad I’m not on Instagram and TikTok. Reading some of the madness on here and Facebook is enough for me.

Two quality signings so far. I reckon we will make two, possibly three more and that will be it. A proven centre back leader would do for me and couple of decent squad players. Couldn’t be more excited about next season‘s prospects. We won’t win the league but we sure as hell won’t be looking over our shoulder potentially being sucked into a relegation dogfight.

Well thats my midfield general taken care off ,now for CDs to be taken care off ,As bonne gone then pro contract for Jack Stone will take care off that ,then a LB / LWB. Very happy with that signing welcome Sam from one decent club to another you have come.
Keep up. Even I've moved on to Spotify.

I've clearly stated why, I said that comment.

It's called backing up my claim

Good day
You can't get out of it that easily. If you looked up stats, you would also have seen what kind of player he is (i looked him up because I'd never heard of him). You chose to ignore everything else and concentrate on the negative. Whether that was subconscious or not i can't say.

No, I just Purley looked at the stats as a WINGER.

I never look at the negativity you can look at the history or all my messages on here over the years. I never slander the players only on this occasion making a comment as a WINGER. I just looked at the stats didn't go deeper as couldn't be ****ed.

I only moan about the quality of our range with Macron over the years as thet undervalue us as a club. I won't go down in the rabbit hole with that.

Good day

A completely unexpected signing in so many ways not least because very few of us thought a player of his profile (age, experience and dropping down from the EFL while not being in obvious decline) would find his way to Southend. As already noted a statement of intent and am I dreaming in thinking his signing might be the clinching factor in persuading one or two other quality players considering offers to throw in their lot with us?

I was one of many looking forward to a close season where at last we could sign players without restriction. The business done already looks to be outstanding. There will be more signings I am sure and if they are of the same standard even the most pessimistic SZ poster will have to be impressed.

And the optimists among us will be hoping that there might be even better on the way.

In the next two weeks we will all be compulsively checking into Shrimperzone in anticipation of both rumours and news of actual signings.

The lesson is stats can only back up any theory. Not be the basis of any argument......Especially when it comes to football players.

In fact football is always best judged with your own eyes. Stats are for lying, slimy politicians and NHS mangers to hide behind.

And what about the stat(s) yet to be achieved?

Just received this from my Dad's cousin who is a Kidderminster season ticket holder:

Pops up in the penalty area at the right time too. Just don’t let your manager try to play him as a wing-back. Nearly ruined him at Aggborough. Always 100%.
Interesting as I’m sure I read somewhere that he played LWB quite a bit at Notts Cointy. But Kev must play him where he feels he is at his best otherwise we could end up with another Dan Mooney situation

He started as a right back. He was then moved forward to right wing back and right winger. He's also been used as a inside right and in midfield. Quite handy to have a very versatile player.
