SUFC: The Future RH Redevelopment

Remember FF is supposedly going to contribute around £12m towards construction costs. Depends how much belief you put into that being received - would imagine that could massively impact the viability numbers.

However I think COSU are on record that they'll do the development regardless of the likelihood of the FF money being received. So guess there's a number they're willing to invest to get the club 'sustainable'.

Could get very interesting if the feasibility study raises question marks on the project.
Hopefully COSU will build the East stand to generate the non-match day revenue and then the £12m could be used to produce a new North Bank (which would tie in with the design and build of the new East Stand)

I wouldn't go far as to rename the North Bank as the Ron Martin North Bank but we might be able to persuade Banksy to add a couple of Rat graffiti designs to the re-build in homage to the little ****

Yeah was thinking the same tbh just chuking ideas out there.

The Wycombe style looks much more elegant to me. These stands with big flat grey office block-looking slabs at the back always strike me as ugly and depressing, and the roofs look miles away from the fans' heads. It's what you end up with when you try to cram in as many corporate facilities as possible at the expense of everything else. But we can't be picky really, that's the modern way and needs must.

What length of time and what level of investment will be required to get to sustainability in a revamped RH? I suspect millions will evaporate even before the east stand is started and that's when the serious numbers start being demanded. Are the majority on here sure, even long-long-long term, the investors will see a worthwhile return, if any, or that COSU are a benevolent band of philanthropists?
Surely, any feasibility study is going to say, 'you want it, you build it but, don't expect to see that money back in your lifetime'?
As much as RM let us down, I feel he was right and a new stadium with greater non-matchday revenue, is the true way forward.
Do we know if the whole consortium is convinced RH can, one day, be the answer or do they recognise its restrictive area, positioning and location is the problem denying a brighter future?
I hope I'm wrong, because RH is in my bloodstream, but I can still see it being a housing estate.
They have to do something because otherwise they'll never find a buyer for when they want to sell.

Barely any clubs make any money but there is greater value in a club that loses £50k/year than one losing £200k/month.

Agree, the two tier thing looks much more big time to me, and surely with the lack of space building upwards is the way to go, with the facilities etc behind it.

To quote the Brentford example again (same architects that we're using) their main stand has a capacity of 6,000. It looks from the photo like a single access point from which you can access the seats both above and below, and then at the higher level you have the premium seats associated with exec boxes and lounges.

That roof really doesn't look like it's offering any protection from the rain if there's a slight headwind. Or any shade on a sunny day.

And their design with it narrowing in at the corners is only like that as they are restricted by a road and a railway either side of their main stand. We could link up with the North to create a nice joined up design (if a redesigned North bank is also in the offering) That would allow the away support to be moved to the South Stand in its entirety with a dedicated access being brought through the club car park at present along where the current ticket office.

If we like the away support we could provide the South Upper, if we don't, we close off the upper and provide just the lower lol

Isn't access to the pitch for vehicles currently in north east corner - so might be tricky to get seats in the area - depending on height, although would certainly lose seat capacity at pitch level.

We could name the toilets after him.

**** off leave our South alone, best view at the stadium and no sun in your bloody eyes like in the East

The single Tier , corporate, then what ever above it are terrible. Barnets being the worst imaginable
The roof is too high and it looks cr.p
Two tiers. Boxes in the middle. The function rooms don’t need a view of the pitch
And the roof as low as possible

I really hope that the club manage to improve the floodlights for next season. I understood that they were awaiting planning permission. Anyone got an update on this?

Nah, that looks hideous!
As long as it has seats / safe standing which face the pitch I couldn't care what it looks like.

Obviously I do a bit but as long as it generates non-match day income for the club / COSU I'm not that fussed. I don't live near it to see it, and I only have to sit in it for 23 home games a season.

I don’t have any examples but I’d personally love to see something steep and intimidating, with an upper tier that sits slightly over the lower tier so even those in the higher seats can be closer to the pitch. Like the south upper but without impacting the visibility at the back of the lower tier.

Anyone know any examples?

Craven Cottage new stand, on a much bigger scale. Hospitality is low down

Holds about 8,000 that stand at Fulham. So whilst at the top end of what we may go to, 6-8,000 has been quoted by Tom as the ballpark we are looking at for East stand capacity. Works for me if we go for something like that.

I agree with @South Bank Hank in that I hope we go for something steep, close to the pitch to give that fear factor.
